Joe Hartung was flying a vintage World War II ‘plane in an air show when it crashed into the runway; Kaylee saw reporters covering the story, and that was the moment when she decided that that’s what she wanted to do when she grew up.

Kaylee began reporting for ESPN in 2015, and appeared regularly on “SportsCenter”. In one of her interviews, she said: ‘If you’d have told me, as I was standing at my graduation without a job lined up, that eight years later I’d be reporting for ESPN on college sports at the highest level, I’d have laughed at you.’

However, she contributed to ESPN’s coverage of the biggest college sporting events across the US, including the Football Playoffs, and the World Series, while she also hosted and reported for the Longhorn and SEC Network.

On 26 March 2017, Kaylee covered the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Division I Tournament Regional Final game between Baylor and Mississippi State, which was her final event for ESPN.

However, she shared on her social media platforms about her mature oocyte cryopreservation, also known as ‘egg freezing’, saying that she is aware that women have a biological clock, and so has taken matters into her own hands.’ As I turned 35 in a year when so much seemed to be out of our control, I decided there would be no better time to get serious with myself and make a plan. I was fortunate enough to be able to control this.’ said Kaylee, among other things in her post on Instagram.

Eye Injury

In the TV talk show “Good Morning America” on 18 March 2020, Kaylee was interviewed from her home by her colleague Robyn Roberts, and shared with viewers that she was in quarantine, diagnosed with  the Corona virus.

‘ I knew something was wrong as soon as I woke up’, said Kaylee, adding that a few days after returning from her stint in Seattle, she felt a headache and extreme exhaustion, and after she was examined by doctors and tested, she was diagnosed with Covid-19.

While she was reporting from Seattle, where the initial Covid-19 outbreak happened in the US, viewers noticed that her left eye seemed strange, many assuming that she had an eye injury, however, Kaylee later revealed that she felt pain between her eyes, so took some medications, and a cream which she put between her eyes made her left eye seem injured.
