Who is Kaylee Hartung?

A famous American Broadcasting Company (ABC) News reporter and journalist, Kaylee Hartung was born under the zodiac sign of Scorpio on 7 November 1985, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana USA; she holds American nationality, and her ethnicity is Caucasian.

Kaylee rose to prominence after her report for the Cable News Network (CNN) about the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, and is also well-known for her reports about multiple hurricanes throughout the southeast. Kaylee is perhaps known best as a favorite reporter for the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN).

Early life and education

Kaylee was raised by her parents in Baton Rouge, however, her father Joe Hartung sadly died in a ‘plane crash when she was 10 years old, so her mother, Julie Tucker, then raised her and her brother Tyler on her own.

Joe Hartung was flying a vintage World War II ‘plane in an air show when it crashed into the runway; Kaylee saw reporters covering the story, and that was the moment when she decided that that’s what she wanted to do when she grew up.

Kaylee’s interest in journalism from an early age kept growing, and she used to play with her friends, imagining that she was reporting about important things happening around the world.

She was one of those kids who dreamt of changing the world to make it a better place.

Speaking of her educational background, she attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2003, enrolled at Washington and Lee University, in Lexington, Virginia, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Politics in 2007.

Career

Kaylee began her career in the CBS News bureau in Washington DC as an associate producer for “Face the Nation”, as an assistant to then-host Bob Schieffer. She contributed to his research team for his 2008 and 2012 presidential debates, while Kaylee also photographed, produced and edited her own reports for the CBS News’ website.

Kaylee began reporting for ESPN in 2015, and appeared regularly on “SportsCenter”. In one of her interviews, she said: ‘If you’d have told me, as I was standing at my graduation without a job lined up, that eight years later I’d be reporting for ESPN on college sports at the highest level, I’d have laughed at you.’

However, she contributed to ESPN’s coverage of the biggest college sporting events across the US, including the Football Playoffs, and the World Series, while she also hosted and reported for the Longhorn and SEC Network.

On 26 March 2017, Kaylee covered the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Division I Tournament Regional Final game between Baylor and Mississippi State, which was her final event for ESPN.

In 2018, she worked as a correspondent for CNN, before joining ABC as a correspondent based out of New York City, on 18 July 2019. She was nominated for the News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Breaking News Coverage; currently, Kaylee serves as a reporter for ABC News, covering all ABC News broadcasts and platforms, including, “ABC News Live”, “Good Morning America”, “Nightline”, and “World News Tonight with David Muir”.

Love life and relationships

There have been various rumors concerning both Kaylee’s love life and her sexual orientation, including that she’s lesbian, started after she was seen in the company of a mysterious girl with whom she was pretty close in one nightclub.

However, Kaylee hasn’t commented on these assumptions, but she did comment about the rumors saying that she is in an affair with former National Football League (NFL) superstar, Tim Tebow. Kaylee said that Tim Tebow was like a brother to her, and after Tim married the 2017 Miss South Africa and Miss Universe, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in 2020, it was clear that rumors about him and Kaylee being in a romantic relationship were false.

As of June 2022, it seems that Kaylee is single, she hasn’t been married or engaged, and doesn’t have children.

However, she shared on her social media platforms about her mature oocyte cryopreservation, also known as ‘egg freezing’, saying that she is aware that women have a biological clock, and so has taken matters into her own hands.’ As I turned 35 in a year when so much seemed to be out of our control, I decided there would be no better time to get serious with myself and make a plan. I was fortunate enough to be able to control this.’ said Kaylee, among other things in her post on Instagram.

Eye Injury

In the TV talk show “Good Morning America” on 18 March 2020, Kaylee was interviewed from her home by her colleague Robyn Roberts, and shared with viewers that she was in quarantine, diagnosed with  the Corona virus.

‘ I knew something was wrong as soon as I woke up’, said Kaylee, adding that a few days after returning from her stint in Seattle, she felt a headache and extreme exhaustion, and after she was examined by doctors and tested, she was diagnosed with Covid-19.

While she was reporting from Seattle, where the initial Covid-19 outbreak happened in the US, viewers noticed that her left eye seemed strange, many assuming that she had an eye injury, however, Kaylee later revealed that she felt pain between her eyes, so took some medications, and a cream which she put between her eyes made her left eye seem injured.

Kaylee is 36 years old, she has long brown hair and brown eyes; she weighs around 110lbs (50kgs) and is 5ft 2ins (1.6m) tall, with vital statistics of 33-24-34.
