Who is Georgie Henley?

On 9 December 2005, the Oscar-awarded movie “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” was released, and one of the stars was a young and talented actress who portrayed Lucy Pevensie, the girl who was the first to discover Narnia. If you ever wondered who that actress was, let us introduce you to Georgina Helen ‘Georgie’ Henley.

She was born under the zodiac sign of Cancer on 9 July 1995, in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, England; she holds British nationality, and comes from a family of English descent. She is a writer, director, and an actress with over 10 credits to her name, and although is perhaps still known best for her mentioned role, to the older audience she may be known best as Princess Meg Tudor in the drama series “The Spanish Princess”.

Early life, family, and education

Georgie was raised in Ilkley by her parents Mike and Helen, alongside her elder sisters, Rachel and Laura, who are both actresses too – Rachel portrayed the older version of Lucy in “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”.

Georgie had an interest in acting from an early age, and thus joined a local drama group, where she participated in theater plays such as “The Pied Piper” and “Babushka: A Christmas Story”, which lead to her audition for movie roles.

Speaking of her education, she attended Moorfield School for Girls before Bradford Grammar School, and upon matriculating in 2013, she enrolled at Clare College, Cambridge from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English in 2017.

Roles in movies

Georgie was nine years old when she made her acting debut portraying Lucy Pevensie in “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”, also starring Tilda Swinton and William Moseley; this adventure family fantasy had 46 award nominations and won 18, including the 2006 Oscar for Best Achievement in Make-up. For her performance, Georgie had 10 award nominations, and won the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film – Young Actress Age Ten or Younger, and the Phoenix Film Critics Society Award for Best Performance by a Youth in a Lead or Supporting Role – Female.

Georgie reprised her role as Lucy in the 2008 sequel “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” alongside Skandar Keynes and Ben Barnes – this movie had 21 award nominations, and won four, with Georgie winning the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award, UK Best Movie Actress.

Two years later, she was again seen as Lucy in “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”, and Georgie was this time nominated for the 2011 Movie Guide Grace Award for Most Inspiring Movie Acting.

After she starred in that franchise, Georgie waited three years to be cast to play Beth Anderson in “Perfect Sisters”, alongside Mira Sorvino and Abigail Breslin, followed by her role as Mary Warren in “The Sisterhood of Night”, a mystery thriller drama directed by Caryn Waechter.

In 2017, Georgie portrayed Natalie in the musical comedy drama “Access All Areas”, and then in 2019 she filmed the prequel to “Game of Thrones”, which has yet to be aired, although it was announced.

In the same year, she was cast to play in the short movie “Girl, Sweetvoiced”, which won the New York City (NYC) Web Award for Best Short Film, and is Georgie’s most recent movie role.

Roles in series

Georgie made her first television appearance in 2006, as Young Jane Eyre in the TV mini-series “Jane Eyre”, also starring Ruth Wilson, Toby Stephens and Lorraine Ashbourne; the series had 23 award nominations and won four, including three Primetime Emmys.

After over a decade, Georgie was cast to play Princess Meg Tudor in the series “The Spanish Princess”, which broadcast from 2019 until 2020, and won the Women’s Image Network Award for Outstanding Drama Series.

This was Georgie’s most recent television role, and it seems that she’s now focused her acting career on the theatre, as in 2021, she was seen starring in the one-woman play “Tarantula” at the Southwark Playhouse, in London.

Love life and relationships

There have been numerous rumors concerning Georgie’s love life and her sexual orientation, but since she prefers to keep her private life a secret, she hasn’t spoken about her previous relationships.

The rumors about her sexual orientation started after she tweeted ‘Happy Pride Month’ in June 2021, after which some people assumed that she’s bisexual; she hasn’t confirmed nor denied these assumptions.

However, some rumors were saying that back in 2006, she had a crush on Luke Benward, her fellow actor, but at age 11 probably just that, then in 2009 it was rumored that she was dating Canadian actor Keanu Pires, but as they were teenagers back then, that also seems just a crush.

In 2017, rumors started about Georgie dating her fellow from “The Chronicles of Narnia”, Skandar Keynes, but she confirmed that they are just close friends.

As of April 2022, Georgie seems to be single, she hasn’t been married or engaged, and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and other interests

As mentioned, Georgie is a writer, and in 2016 wrote and directed the short movie “Tide”, about a young lesbian couple and the different stages of their relationship; the stars of her movie were Ella Duffy, Aoife Kennan and Toby Marlow, who were her college fellows. Georgie got the idea for this movie during her trip to Lytham St Annes, a small seaside town in Lancashire, England, and part of the movie was filmed there.

Georgie’s favorite hobby is writing poems, and she often shares her work with her followers on Instagram, whose number counts over 350,000.

She is also active on her Twitter account, which has been followed by over 55,000 people.

Age, height, and net worth

Georgie’s age is 26, with brown hair and green eyes; she weighs around 125lbs (57kgs) and is 5ft 4ins (1.63m) tall, with vital statistics of 36-29-35.

According to sources, “The Narnia” franchise earned nearly $2 billion gross worldwide, and being a cast member brought Georgia to notice for future roles, thus as of early 2022, her net worth has been estimated at close to $3 million.
