Dylan Playfair was born in Fort Saint James, British Columbia, Canada, on 19 June 1992 – his zodiac sign is Gemini, and he holds Canadian nationality. Early life, family and education
Dylan is the son of the famous National Hockey League (NHL) player Jim Playfair, while his mother, Roxanne, is a business owner. He’s also the nephew of the former NHL star Larry Playfair. He has two younger brothers, Austyn and Jackson, with whom he shares a close bond.
Growing up, Dylan naturally had an interest in hockey, and wanted to pursue a career of a professional player, just like his father and uncle.

He grew up playing the sport alongside his brothers, and travelling across the US and Canada, as their father coached various teams in the NFL. Dylan played in junior leagues for two years, but eventually came to a point where he thought that he wouldn’t be able to fill in his father’s footsteps and become an NHL player.
At the age of 19, Dylan stopped playing hockey professionally, and instead chose to pursue an acting career. He moved to Vancouver, British Colombia, where he started taking classes at the Acting School of Vancouver. He has revealed in a recent interview that his entire family was supportive of his career change, and his father even told him ‘If you do a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life’. He has also said that acting came to him naturally, as he is a very extroverted and emotional person who loves performing for other people.

Career as a hockey player
Dylan started off his hockey career in the season 2009-2010, when he played in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League, as a member of Penticton Lakers.
In the following season, he played as a left-winger for Merritt Centennials, in the British Colombia Hockey League. He had one assist but didn’t score a goal, spending a lot of time on the bench, as he had 56 PIMs (Penalty per Minute) over the 42 games he played for the team.

Dylan made his film debut in the 2012 mystery horror “Grave Encounters 2”, about a young film student who is obsessed with the movie “Grave Encounters”, and sets out to visit the psychiatric hospital in which the movie takes place.
In the following year, he played the role of Marty Mowe, in the award-winning biographical sports drama “Mr. Hockey: The Gordie Howe Story”, based on the real life story of the legendary hockey player Gordie How, who returned to playing at the age of 44. Dylan made his TV series debut in 2014, when played one of the leads in the family sitcom “Some Assembly Required”, which also starred Kolton Stewart, Harrison Houde and Sydney Scotia. The series aired on the Canadian channel YTV from January 2014 to June 2016, and followed a 14 year-old boy who became the CEO of a renowned toy company, and starts recruiting a diverse group of children to help him run it. In the series, Dylan played the role of Knox, a not very bright extreme sports enthusiast who gets recruited as a product and safety tester.
In 2016, Dylan appeared in three episodes of the Netflix comedy drama “Haters Back Off!”, created by and starring the famous YouTuber Colleen Ballinger, aka Miranda Sings.
In the same year, he joined the cast of the Canadian sitcom “Letterkenny”, centered on a group of people living in a fictional town in rural Ontario. Dylan volunteers for The Cameron Boyce Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in the memory of the late actor Cameron Boyce. It’s focused on preventing gun violence, and helping people who are suffering from epilepsy.
