Who is Petrice Jones?

British actor Petrice Jones was born under the zodiac sign Taurus on 10 May 1993, in London, England. He has 12 acting credits, and is perhaps known best for playing Scot Cavendish in 22 episodes of the fantasy horror series “Locke & Key”, created by Meredith Averill and Carlton Cuse, and which starred Darby Stanchfield and Connor Jessup. It follows a woman and her three children who’ve moved into their ancestral home, The Keyhouse following the death of their patriarch – the series aired from 2020 through 2022 and won four of its 16 award nominations.

Education and early life

Petrice was raised alongside his sister Lauryn McClain in the small town of Milton Keynes just north of London, by their mother who worked several jobs to financially support herself and her children; Petrice’s father visited only on the weekends, as his parents were divorced.

Petrice became passionate about acting while attending a local high school in Milton Keynes, however, he was mostly into sports as a teenager as he played soccer, basketball and tennis. He matriculated in 2011 and then honed his acting skills at the National Youth Theatre of London.

Roles in movies

Petrice’s debut film role was playing Emerson in the 2013 science fiction “Stunted Trees and Broken Bridges”, which starred Sophie Gerrish, Heather Bleasdale and Tom Leach, and follows the lives of members of a mysterious family. Also in 2013, Petrice portrayed Ash in the short drama “Exploited”, starring alongside Charlie Clarke.

He went on to play Flea in the 2014 action crime comedy “We Still Kill the Old Way”, written and directed by Sacha Bennett, and which starred Ian Ogilvy, Alison Doody and Danny Hatchard. It follows Ritchie who’s come to London from Spain to investigate the murder of his brother Charlie Archer.

The year 2016 saw Petrice play the lead character Gregory in the drama “Play the Devil”, which Maria Govan wrote and directed, and which also starred Gareth Jenkins and Akil Nickolas. It follows an older man who’s fallen for a struggling young man at the mystical Carnival in Trinidad and Tobago, and the film won four of its six award nominations.

Petrice’s only other film role has been portraying Shotgun in the 2017 action crime science fiction “iBoy”, directed by Adam Randall, and which starred Miranda Richardson, Maisie Williams and Bill Milner. It follows Tom who was shot and has now awoken from a coma to discover that he’s developed superpowers, and cannot return to his normal teenage life.

Roles in TV series

Petrice’s debut TV series role was playing Darius Wilks in the 2013 episode “Gloves Off” of the drama “Casualty”, which Jeremy Brock and Paul Unwin created, and which stars Derek Thompson, Tony Marshall and Suzanne Packer. It follows the lives of people working at the Holby City Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department, the show’s been airing since 1986, and has won 16 of its 58 award nominations.

The year 2015 saw Petrice play Tavoris in the episode “One Hand Clapping” of the crime drama “Spotless”, created by Ed McCardie and Corinne Marrinan, and which starred Miranda Raison, Denis Menochet and Marc-Andre Grondin. It follows the owner of a crime scene cleaning service who’s been forced to work for a mob boss, and the series was nominated for two awards. Also in 2015, Petrice played Frankie in the episode “Afternoon of the Living Dead” of the drama “Doctors”, and AJ Shreve in the episode “Out of Sight Out of Mind” of the drama “Holby City”.

The year 2017 saw him play Nathan Tate in the episode “Lamb to the Slaughter” of the crime action “Lucky Man”, created by Stan Lee and Neil Biswas, and which starred James Nesbitt, Sienna Guillory and Darren Boyd. It follows the life of a brilliant but flawed police officer who can control luck, the series aired from 2016 through 2018, and was nominated for two awards.

Petrice’s only other TV series role has been playing Tal Baker in 19 episodes of the musical drama “Step Up: High Water”, created by Holly Sorensen, and which starred Terrence Green, Ne-Yo and Carlito Olivero. It follows the lives of professors and teachers at High Water Performing Arts School, the series aired from 2018 through 2022, and won three awards.

Awards and nominations

Petrice won a 2017 KASHISH Pride Film Festival Jury Award for Best Performance in a Lead Role, for “Play the Devil”.

Love life and relationships

Petrice prefers not to speak about his love life in public, but we know that he’s today in a relationship with British social media star and health specialist Sophia Esperanza.

He doesn’t usually talk about Sophia in his interviews but has still featured her in many of his Instagram pictures and videos; close to three million people are following Sophia on Instagram today – she’s posted nearly 200 pictures and videos, with most of her content featuring her spending time with Petrice and her friends, travelling around the world and working out at the gym.

We don’t know about other girls whom Petrice has perhaps dated; he’s in a relationship with Sophia Esperanza as of January 2024, doesn’t have children and hasn’t married.

Petrice loves to watch movies and his favorite actor and actress are Tom Hanks and Jennifer Lawrence, while some of his favorite films are “A Man Called Otto”, “Saving Private Ryan” and “The Terminal”.

He still occasionally plays soccer with his friends and it’s his favorite sport; his favorite player is Lionel Messi.

Petrice is passionate about travelling and has been to various countries around the world, with his dream travel destination being Rome, Italy.
