Helena Bonham Carter was born on 26 May 1966, in Islington, London, England. She made her acting debut in the television movie “A Pattern of Roses” in 1983, while in 1985 she was cast as Lucy Honeychurch in the successful film “A Room with a View”.

The following year she secured her first major role, as Lady Jane Grey in the film “Lady Jane”.

Since then, Helena has appeared in more than 100 film and TV titles, enjoying success throughout the decades of her long career. In the ‘90s, she was known for the portrayal of corset queens in English period-drama films such as “Hamlet” (1990), “Howards End” (1992), “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein” (1994), and “The Wings of the Dove” (1997), among others.

Her popularity soared in the 2000s, as she starred in such films as “Planet of the Apes”, “Henry VIII” (2003), then as Bellatrix Lestrange in the ‘Harry Potter’ films, including “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” (2007), and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” in 2009. In 2010 she was Red Queen in the film “Alice in Wonderland”, while in 2012 she portrayed Miss Havisham in the film “Great Expectations”. She is currently working on several projects, including the TV series “Call My Agent (UK)”, scheduled for premiere in 2022, and the film “Not Bloody Likely”, which is now in pre-production.

Before she started dating Billy’s father, Helena was in a five-year-long relationship with actor Kenneth Branagh. The two met while working on the film “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein” in 1994 and started dating while Branagh was still married to Emma Thompson. However, in 1999 Helena and Kenneth separated.

Since breaking up with Burton, Helena has been single, apparently focused on her career and raising her children.
