American actor, comedian and producer Joseph Anthony ‘Joe’ Gatto was born on Staten Island, New York State USA on 5 June 1976, so Gemini’s his zodiac sign. He was once a member of the comedy troupe The Tenderloins, together with Brian Quinn, James Murray and Sal Vulcano, and is perhaps known best for starring in the hidden camera reality show “Impractical Jokers”.

Joe was raised on Staten Island alongside his two sisters Gina Gatto Tardogno and Carla Gato Sullivan, by their father who died from pancreatic cancer in 1995, and mother Gerry Gatto who passed away on 3 June 2012. Joe studied at Monsignor Farrell High School and was a member of the school’s improv club; upon matriculating in 1994, Joe enrolled at private university LIU Post, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1998.


It was right after graduation that Joe and his three friends began touring around the US as the improv comedy troupe The Tenderloins; they became famous after they began recording themselves performing comedy, and uploading these videos onto their Metacafe, Myspace and YouTube accounts. They competed in the NBC’s “It’s Your Show” in 2007 and won the grand prize of $100,000.

In 2019, Joe and his three friends competed in the comedy game-show “The Misery Index”, and on 21 February 2021, their comedy movie “Impractical Jokers: The Movie” was released.

Joe’s also appeared in several popular movies and TV series, starting with his appearance in the 2008 short comedy film “The Little Slutty Mermaid”. In 2017, he played Security Officer Larry in the episode “Causality” of the adventure mystery series “12 Monkeys”, which Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett created, and which starred Noah Bean, Amanda Schull and Aaron Stanford. It follows a time traveler who’s been sent to the past to find and destroy the source of a deadly plague, the series aired from 2015 through 2018 and won four of its 14 award nominations.


Some of Joe’s other notable performances have been in the 2020 episode “Mac + Desi + Riley + Aubrey” of the action adventure series “MacGyver”, the 2020 video game “MultiVersus” (voice role) and the 2022 comedy movie “Clerks III”.

Joe hasn’t been drinking alcohol since his father’s death, believing that alcohol had contributed to his demise.
