Who is Steven Piet?

American screenwriter, producer and director Steven Piet, was born in Chicago, Illinois USA in 1991, and although he hasn’t revealed his exact date of birth, Steven’s zodiac sign’s believed to be Aries. He’s perhaps known best for producing and directing two episodes of the critically acclaimed 2019 biographical crime mini-series “The Act”, created by Nick Antosca and Michelle Dean, and which starred Patricia Arquette, Joey King and AnnaSophia Robb. It follows the life of Gypsy who’s trying to escape from her toxic mother, and the series won four of its 22 award nominations.

Education and early life

Steven was raised in Chicago by his parents who prefer to maintain their privacy, thus not a lot about them has been revealed; most of Steven’s fans believe that his father’s also involved in the film industry, and that his mother’s a housewife. As he hasn’t spoken about having siblings, Steven’s believed to be an only child.

He fell in love with the film industry while attending a local high school in Chicago, and was 17 when he knew that he wanted to make movies. Steven matriculated in 2010 and then enrolled at Savannah College of Art and Design, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2014.

Steven’s career

Steven launched his career in 2015, when he wrote and directed the popular crime mystery movie “Uncle John”, which starred John Ashton, Alex Moffat and Jenna Lyng Adams, and follows a man who’s returning to his hometown, wanting to see his uncle who’s the main suspect in a murder case; the movie won six of its 10 award nominations.

In 2017, Steven directed six episodes of the fantasy horror series “Channel Zero”, created by Nick Antosca, and which starred Brandon Scott, Marina Stephenson Kerr and Abigail Pniowsky. It’s a compilation of popular internet horror stories, and the series won five of its 22 award nominations. In the following year, Steven produced 10 episodes of the hit mystery horror series “Nightflyers”, created by Jeff Buhler, and which starred Eoin Macken, David Ajala and Jodie Turner Smith. It follows the crew of the spaceship Nightflyer as they’ve embarked on a mission –  the series was nominated for two awards.

In 2019 and 2020, Steven produced nine and directed three episodes of the popular crime mystery series “Briarpatch”, which Andy Greenwald created, and which starred Rosario Dawson, Jay R. Ferguson and Edi Gathegi. It follows a senator’s aide as she’s investigating the death of her police officer sister in San Bonifacio, Texas.

Steven’s only other work has been directing two episodes of the biographical crime mini-series “A Friend of the Family”, which Nick Antosca created, and which starred Jake Lacy, Colin Hanks and Lio Tipton; it tells the true story about the Broberg family.

Awards and nominations

Steven’s won three of his seven award nominations.

He won a Jury Award for Best Screenplay at the 2015 Hell’s Half Mile Film and Music Festival, and both a Grand Jury Award and Best of the Midwest Award for Best Feature at the 2015 Midwest Independent Film Festival, while all three for “Uncle John”.

Besides for his work, Steven’s also popular for being the fiancé of famous American actress Joey Lynn King. The two met on the set of the series “The Act”, and even though they started dating in the first half of 2019, Steven and Joey kept their relationship hidden from the media’s attention until December 2020; they became engaged in February 2022.

Steven hasn’t mentioned other women whom he’s dated, while it’s known that Joey was previously in a relationship with Jacob Elordi, a popular Australian actor.

Joey was raised in Los Angeles by her parents Jamie and Terry King, and was only four when she appeared in her first commercial. She was seven when she made her debut TV series appearance in 2006, playing Emily in two episodes of the popular family comedy series “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”, which aired from 2005 through 2008, and won eight of its 33 award nominations. Joey then pursued a career in the film industry, and simultaneously attended school; she studied at Phoenix Ranch School, and upon matriculating in 2017 didn’t enroll at college.

From 2006 through 2010, Joey appeared in a couple of hit movies and TV series, such as the drama film “Reign Over Me”, the comedy series “Entourage” and the science fiction horror thriller movie “Quarantine”.
