Dennis was born in Braunschweig on 15 September 1993 – his zodiac sign is Virgo, and he holds German nationality. He’s known best for playing for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Dennis was raised in Germany alongside his brother and sister, by their German father who died in 2009, and their Gambian mother. He grew up being interested in skateboarding, and he and his brother were able to perform various tricks by the time they turned 10. It was after Dennis’ father’s death that he became interested in basketball, and chose to pursue it as a career.
He was still attending a local high school when he started playing professionally for SG Braunschweig in 2010 – Dennis matriculated in the following year.
He attracted some attention in the 2011-2012 season, when he averaged around 18 points and seven assists per game; Dennis played a couple of games for the Phantoms Braunschweig in the same season, and was named Best Young German Player, as well as League’s Most Improved Player. He was chosen to play for the World Select Team at the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit, and his team won 112-98; Dennis then revealed that he’d entered the 2013 NBA draft.

He was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder on 25 July 2018, and served as their sixth man, playing only after Russell Westbrook would be sent to the bench. In the 2019-2020 season, Dennis was in the finals for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award, which was won by Montrezi Harrell.
He was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers on 18 November 2020, and was offered a four-year $84 million contract in March 2021, however, Dennis rejected the offer in search of a better deal. He was signed to the Boston Celtics on 13 August 2021, on a one-year $6 million contract.
Dennis has also played for the German national teams, under-18 and under-20, and competed in the 2012 Fédération Internationale de Basketball Amateur (FIBA) Europe Under-20 Championship, at which Germany placed fifth; he also played for the Germany’s senior team on 27 July 2014, when they faced Finland. Dennis played for Germany at both EuroBasket 2015 and EuroBasket 2017.
