Mayeli Alonso
The exuberant social media personality and businesswoman Mayeli Alonso was born on 1st December 1984 in Chihuahua, Mexico, and is also known for being the ex-wife of Mexican singer Lupillo Rivera. When the couple announced their divorce in 2019 after over a decade of union, many fans were heartbroken and considered it the end of an era.
Little is known of Mayeli’s childhood or education level; in September 2021, she mourned the loss of her father, a former businessman who passed away of COVID-19 complications. Months later, the blonde broke down crying on reality TV as she confessed that she never expected him to die so soon, adding that she regretted arguing with him before he died.
However, this isn’t the only family tragedy that Mayeli has had to navigate. In 2015, her niece Rocío died in a car accident, which came as a devastating blow to the tight-knit Alonso clan. On the three-year anniversary of Rocío’s untimely demise, Mayeli dedicated her a heartfelt Instagram post in which she said: ‘I miss your words, your messages, your phone calls, your visits, going out together, thank you for loving us so much. I swear I’d give anything to hug you again.’ [All quotes translated from Spanish]
Personal Life
As mentioned, Mayeli tied the knot with the Grammy Award-winning musician Lupillo Rivera in May 2006. At the time, the couple had already been together for years, and had a one-year-old daughter named Lupita Karizma, so their extravagant big day was the talk of the town.
Although Mayeli and Lupillo initially planned to marry in Las Vegas in January, they were unable to do so for unspecified reasons. We do know that Mayeli wore a dress by Mexican designer Mitzy, who has worked with the likes of Thalía and other A-listers throughout the course of his decades-long career. The reception, which took place at the Disneyland Hotel in California, reportedly cost $100,000 and lasted until the early hours of the morning, as the happy couple celebrated with their family and loved ones.
Mayeli and Lupillo’s bond went from strength to strength with the birth of their second child, L’Rey, who was born in 2009. The couple appeared to have it all, which is why fans were shocked to read their separation announcement in 2018 – and although both parties maintained a dignified silence at first, perhaps for the sake of their children and image, the sordid details of what led to their divorce have since become public news.
Post-Divorce
For months and even years, it was rumored that the businesswoman and musician had broken up after a threesome gone wrong. In January 2023, Mayeli finally broke her silence regarding the topic, saying: ‘Yes, we had a threesome… And absolutely nothing bad happened.’ The blonde went on to say that she, Lupillo, and an unnamed female model had explored their sexuality and had an ‘incredible time’, and that the threesome, contrary to popular belief, did not occur while they were going through a rough patch in their marriage.
In mid-2020, Lupillo was called to testify in court during a legal dispute involving Mayeli and her former business partner, Daisy Cabral. For some reason, Lupillo was asked about his divorce during the court proceedings, and alluded to an infidelity – however, if the singer is to be believed, Mayeli was the one who supposedly cheated during their 13-year marriage.
When the details of the court case went public, along with Lupillo’s claims, Mayeli took to Instagram Live to clear the air. Firstly, the businesswoman claimed that her ex-husband had lied about her alleged infidelity. She also insinuated that if she had indeed cheated on the musician, that it wouldn’t be so bad, because he’d done ‘a lot of things’. Lastly, Mayeli added that she could say plenty about Lupillo’s personal life if she wished.
At this point, there have been so many versions of the story that we’ll probably never know the truth. Moving on to the present day, Mayeli has been rumored to be in relationships with various men since her divorce, as the Mexican gossip mill linked her to musicians, doctors, and reality TV stars.

In July 2018, Mayeli began dating musician Jesus Mendoza; at the time, she and Lupillo were separated but still legally married. The businesswoman’s new love story was full of ups and downs, as in November 2021 a resident of California named Raquel Aguilar filed a $1 million lawsuit against Mayeli, alleging that she’d physically attacked her in Jesus’s home. According to Raquel, she was giving Jesus a massage when Mayeli arrived and got the wrong idea. As far as we’re aware, the lawsuit has not yet been settled.
Shortly after the lawsuit was filed, Mayeli and Jesus broke up, and just four months later she went Instagram public with her next boyfriend, Edgar Torres. The influencer uploaded an Instagram Story of herself and Edgar kissing at a friend’s birthday party, and of course it didn’t take long for local gossip blogs to report the news and discover his identity.
Edgar’s ex- and the mother of his child, Lisa Rodriguez, got in touch with the chat show “Chisme no Like” to claim that Edgar had been physically abusive towards her. ‘I suffered domestic violence,’ Lisa stated. ‘He hit me when I was pregnant. So when the baby was born he had neurological and nervous problems, as well as autism.’
Lisa’s story didn’t end there, as she claimed that Edgar worked for the owner of a luxury car rental company but didn’t have any money of his own. The last bombshell that Lisa dropped was that Edgar had run into hot water with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), who arrested him when he was found with $500,000.
Mayeli and Edgar broke up in early 2023, and it didn’t take long for Edgar to post cryptic social media messages alleging that Mayeli had cheated on him. A couple of months later, the businesswoman went public with her latest boyfriend, the boxer Andy Ruiz Jr. Following the same pattern as her last few relationships, Mayeli and Andy were embroiled in controversy, this time due to his recent divorce, with some publications insinuating that the relationship began when Andy was married.
Some sources claim that Mayeli is worth up to $12.5 million, however, this seems unlikely, as when she was ordered to pay her former business partner Daisy Cabral a $220,000 settlement, she asked the judge to review the case again, and tried to lower the sum of the settlement. A more realistic figure would be $1 million, which Mayeli has earned thanks to her reality TV appearances and business ventures.
As for Mayeli’s physical stats, she’s said to be 5ft 4ins (163cm) tall and weighs about 132lbs (60kgs).
