American rap artist, actor as well as a musician Lil Scrappy, was born as Darryl Kevin Richardson III on 19 January 1984, in Atlanta, Georgia, and burst on to the music scene in 2006 with the release of his debut album “Bred 2 Die – Born 2 Live”, which met with positive critical reviews, peaked at number 24 on the Billboard 200 music chart with more than 82,000 copies sold during its first week, ultimately selling over 500,000 copies in total, which earned it a Gold certification from the RIAA.

Lil Scrappy’s rapping skills were noticed by fellow rap artist Lil Wayne, during one of his performances in Atlanta. Scrappy released his debut album under the “G Unit” record label, with which he subsequently signed a contract. “Bred 2 Die – Born 2 Live” spawned the popular singles “Livin’ in the Project”, “Gangsta, Gangsta” and “Money in the Bank”, which was included on the soundtrack of “WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007” video game. Such artists as Young Buck, 50 Cent, Eminem, Olivia Longott, and Lil Jon were all featured on the album.

Scrappy then came out with an independent album called “Prince of the South”, which he released under the “Real Talk Entertainment” label. The album made it to number one on the chart of Top Independent Albums and number 22 on the Top R&B/ Hip-Hop Albums chart. A year later, in 2009, “The Grustle” was released under the “Bonzi” label, and featured appearances by Twista, 2 Chainz, and Rasheeda. His second independent album followed soon afterwards, released in 2010 under the name “Prince of the South 2”.

Up to date, Lil Scrappy has released two independent albums, two collaboration albums, as well as three studio albums, the most recent of which – “Reparations” – was released in 2014.

Aside from rapping, Lil Scrappy has ventured into the television industry, and made numerous appearances on the reality television series called “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” since its premiere on television screens in 2012, as a recurring cast member alongside Stevie J, Waka Flocka Flame, Yung Joc and Ariane Davis.
