Who is Yvonne McGuinness?

Yvonne was born in Kilkenny, Ireland, on 12 October 1972 – her zodiac sign is Libra, and she holds Irish nationality. She’s a visual artist and a moviemaker, but who’s probably known best for being the wife of the famous Irish actor and rock ‘n’ roll musician Cillian Murphy.

Early life and education

Yvonne was raised in Kilkenny by her parents, about whom nothing’s known because she respects their privacy; it’s said that her father was the owner of his own small company, and that her mother was a nurse. Because she hasn’t spoken of having any siblings, most people believe Yvonne to be an only child; it’s known that her uncle is Irish politician John James McGuinness.

Yvonne became interested in drawing and painting at a very early age, and her parents thus paid for her lessons at a local art school. She was into various activities while attending a local high school, practiced acting with its drama club, took on creative writing, and played soccer. Upon matriculating in 1990, Yvonne enrolled at the Royal College of Art in London, England, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1994, and then Master’s degree in 1996.

Yvonne prefers to keep the details of her marriage to herself, but some things about it are still known. She met Cillian in 1996, when he performed with his rock band at her favorite bar. They exchanged vows in 2004, in a private ceremony attended by only their closest friends and family members. In December 2005, Yvonne gave birth to their son Malachy, and their second son Aran followed in July 2007.

Between 2001 and 2015, Yvonne and Cillian lived in London, and they then moved to Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. Even though Cillian is a successful actor, he’s stated that he doesn’t want to move to Hollywood.

Yvonne is a huge fan of all kinds of art, and has been to various galleries and museums around both Europe and the USA.

Cillian Murphy was born in Douglas, County Cork, Ireland, on 25 May 1976 – his zodiac sign is Gemini, and he holds Irish nationality. He’s appeared in more than 50 movies and TV series, and is perhaps known best for his portrayal of the lead character Thomas Shelby, in the crime series “Peaky Blinders”.

It was created by Steven Knight, also stars Paul Anderson and Helen McCrory, and follows a gangster family living in England in the 1900s; the series has been airing since 2013, and has won 22 awards, including a BAFTA Film Award, while it’s been nominated for 47 other awards.

Cillian, his younger sisters Orla and Sile, and his younger brother Paidi were raised in Ballintemple, Cork by their mother who was a French teacher, and their father Brendan who worked at the Department of Education and Skills; most of Cillian’s relatives were also teachers. He became interested in music at a very early age, and was 10 years old when he started writing and singing songs. Cillian attended Presentation Brothers College (Catholic secondary school) from which he matriculated in 1994.

He became interested in acting when he appeared in his first school play, and was encouraged by his English teacher to pursue it as a career, however, at that time, he wanted to become a rock star. Cillian went on to sing and play the guitar in a couple of bands, together with his brother Paidi. They founded The Sons of Mr. Green Genes, and were offered a contract with Acid Jazz Records, which would require them to release five albums, however, Cillian refused because his brother was still attending high school. In 1996, Cillian enrolled at University College, Cork to study law, but quit not long after to focus on acting.

Cillian made his debut film appearance with his portrayal of Pat in the 1997 short drama “Quando”, and a couple of his following roles were in the 1998 crime movie “Sweety Barrett”, the 1999 comedy film “Sunburn” and the short movie “Eviction” the same year. He made his debut TV series appearance with his portrayal of the main character Paul Montague, in the 2001 romantic mini-series “The Way We Live Now”, then in 2003, Cillian was cast to play Bardolph in the hit historical adventure movie “Cold Mountain”. It was written and directed by Anthony Minghella, starred Jude Law, Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger, and follows a soldier who has just finished fighting in the American Civil War, and is on his way to meet his sweetheart in Cold Mountain, North Carolina; the movie won 21 awards, including an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Renee Zellweger), while it was nominated for 101 other awards.

In 2005, Cillian played Dr. Jonathan Crane – aka The Scarecrow – in the hit action crime movie “Batman Begins”, and reprised the role in the 2008 sequel “The Dark Knight”, and the 2012 sequel “The Dark Knight Rises”. He appeared in various other critically acclaimed movies during those years, including the 2010 action science fiction adventures “Inception” and “TRON: Legacy”.

Three of his most recent roles (besides “Peaky Blinders”) have been in the 2019 action thriller movie “Anna”, the 2020 horror science fiction film “A Quiet Place Part II” and the 2021 short movie “All of This Unreal Time”.

For his acting skills, Cillian has won nine of the 51 awards for which he has been nominated.

Music is still very important to him, and although he’s today not a member of any band, he occasionally plays with his friends, as well as solo.
