Barry Keoghan is an Irish award-winning actor best known to the world as Martin in the film “The Killing of a Secret Deer” (2017), and as George in the film “Dunkirk” (2017), in addition to a number of other roles that he has secured so far in his career.

Barry Keoghan was born on 18 October 1992, in Summerhill, Dublin, Ireland. Barry had a rather tough childhood; his biological mother, Lyra Rae Keoghan died of a heroin overdose when he was just 12 years old, after which, he and his brother Eric spent time in foster care, living with 13 different families before the boys went to live with their maternal grandmother and aunt. While in high school he became interested in acting, and appeared in a few school plays, but the teacher banned him from the drama club due to his bad behavior. However, his love for acting prevailed, and he later studied acting at The Factory, a local Dublin school.
Career Beginnings
Barry saw an advertisement for “Between the Canals” (2011) and went to an audition.
After displaying his talents, Barry was selected for the minor role of Aido, sharing the set with Peter Coonan and other stars. The same year, he was Dave Donoghue in the soap opera “Fair City”, while in 2012 he starred in the thriller film “Stalker”, directed by Mark O’Connor, teaming up again with Coonan, and the dynamic duo was joined by John Connors. He worked with O’Connor and Coonan again the same year, this time on the film “King of the Travellers”.
He continued his career with the role of Wayne in the award-winning TV crime-drama series “Love/Hate” (2013), and the same year co-starred in the drama film “Stay”, alongside Aidan Quinn, Taylor Schilling and Gina Moxley.
