Who is Kathryn Tappen?
American sportscaster Kathryn Tappen was born in Morristown, New Jersey USA, on 9 April 1981 under the zodiac sign of Aries. She’s probably best known for the work which she’s done for the commercial broadcast TV and radio network NBC, but also for her presence on the internet.

Education and early life
American married couple Richard G. and Sheila M. Tappen raised their daughter Kathryn in Morristown, alongside her sister Amanda Tappen; Richard and Sheila are of German descent, and it’s believed that he’s a former firefighter, and that she’s a former high school teacher.
Kathryn grew up being interested in sports, even though there were no female sports teams in her hometown, but she still played both basketball and baseball on boys’ teams while attending elementary school. Kathryn enrolled at Villa Walsh Academy in 1995, and there played both tennis and golf, however, she was mostly focused on running track during her four years there.
Upon matriculating in 1999, she enrolled at Rutgers University on both an athletic and academic scholarship; Kathryn was a member of the university’s track and cross-country teams, and was Big East All Star and Academic All-American four times. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2003.
Kathryn’s career
Upon graduation, Kathryn began working for CBS Sports Network, covering various sports for their College Sports Television. She then moved to Providence, Rhode Island when offered work at the TV station WJAR; she served as both their weekday sports reporter and weekend anchor.
After several years at WJAR, Kathryn moved to Watertown, Massachusetts as she was hired to work at New England Sports Network, and she gained recognition in 2011, when she joined the American sports cable and satellite TV NHL Network and began hosting their flagship show “NHL Tonight”. Kathryn stayed with NHL Network for three years, prior to moving to NBC in June 2014.
The same year saw her win the Boston Chapter of Women in Sports and Events Award for Woman of Inspiration, while she was then nominated for two New England Emmy Awards; Kathryn was also nominated for an Associated Press Award back in 2006, for hosting the segment “Swim Meet”.
Kathryn’s today working for NBC Sports Group, and can be seen covering both the Winter and Summer Olympic Games, golf and Notre Dame Football, while she can also be seen hosting the show “Football Night in America”.
Presence on social media networks
Kathryn’s a social media star, and there are today more than 160,000 people following her Instagram account, while she’s posted over 900 pictures and videos onto the popular social media network. Kathryn mostly uses Instagram to share details of her everyday life with her fans, and has revealed that she loves emojis, and that she’s proud to be an American. She’s an avid golf player, and has showed off her skills in some of her Instagram videos.
There are today more than 130,000 people following Kathryn on Twitter; she launched her account in April 2009, and has since tweeted nearly 7,000 times, most related to sports in one way or the other.

Jay’s a former professional ice hockey player, while he’s today coaching the Seattle Kraken team which competes in the NHL; Kathryn and Jay divorced in 2014, and they don’t have children together.
