Joel Silver Net Worth $400 Million

Joel is the son of a writer and a PR executive; he grew up in his hometown, and went to Columbia High School, located in Maplewood, New Jersey, and where he, Buzzy Hellring and Jonny Hines created the game Ultimate Frisbee, and as a result, he and the other creators were inducted into the USA Ultimate Hall Of Fame. After he finished high school, Joel enrolled at the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts of New York University. Before graduation he produced his first film, a short film entitled “Max” (1976).

After graduation he found a job at Lawrence Gordon Productions, and served as associate producer for the film “The Warriors” (1979), and co-producer for “Xanadu” (1980). In 1982 he was the executive producer for the film “Jekyll And Hyde…Together Again”. He was then made producer for films “48 Hrs.” (1982), and “Streets Of Fire” (1984). These were good bases for his net worth.

In 1985 he started his own film production company called Silver Pictures, through which he produced countless successful films and TV series. By the end of the 1980s, he was the producer of films “Commando” (1985) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rae Dawn Chong and Alyssa Milano. In 1987 he produced the first installment of the successful franchise “Lethal Weapon”, with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in lead roles and directed by Richard Donner, and the same year he also produced “Predator”, directed by John McTiernen, while the lead characters were portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers among other stars. The next year he produced “Die Hard”, with Bruce Willis, and in 1989 came the sequel of the “Lethal Weapon” franchise, “Leathal Weapon 2”.

With the next decade, Joe continued quite successfully in producing sequels “Die Hard 2” (1990), “Predator 2” (1990), and “Lethal Weapon 3” (1992), and in 1993 he produced “Demolition Man”, starring Sylvester Stallone, Sandra Bullock and Wesley Snipes, and in 1995 came another successful flick – “Assassins”, with Sylvester Stallone and Antonio Banderas, while woman lead was Julianne Moore. In the second half of the 1990s, Joel was the producer for films “Fathers` Day” (1997), “Conspiracy Theory” (1997), with Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts in lead roles, fourth installment of “Lethal Weapon” in 1998, and the first film of “The Matrix” trilogy in 1999.

With the new millennium, Joel continued successfully producing such popular films as “The Matrix Reloaded” (2003), and “Matrix Revolutions” (2003). In 2005 he produced “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”, and a year later he was the producer for the film “V For Vendetta” with Natalie Portman in lead role. Before 2010, he put his name on films “Speed Racer” (2008), and “Sherlock Holmes” (2009).

Since 2010, Joel has been responsible for the production of films such as “Unknown” (2011) with Liam Neeson and Diane Kruger as leads, “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” (2011), “Non-Stop” (2014), and “Veronica Mars” (2014). Most recenltly he produced films “The Nice Guys” (2016) with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, and “Collide” (2016), starring Anthony Hopkins and Nicholas Hoult, which has increased his net worth by a large margin.
Joel has also several projects in the making, such as “Suburbicon” which is scheduled for 2017 release, and “The Predator” (2018).

Joel started one more film production company, called Dark Castle Entertainment in 1999, with filmmakers Robert Zemeckis and Gilbert Adler, focusing on horror films, such as “House On Haunted Hill” (1999), and its sequel “Return To House On Haunted Hill” (2007), “Ghost Ship” (2002), “Gothika” (2003), “The Hills Run Red” (2009), and “Getaway”, among others, which only increased further is net worth.

Regarding his personal life, Joel has been married to Karyn Fields, since 1999; the couple has one child together.
