Why Scala Left NBC

Many fans expressed their disappointment when Scala took to Twitter announcing that she was leaving NBC in pursuit of ‘greener pastures.’

She hosted the show “Today in New York” for the last time on 3 December 2021. After she left, the vice president of NBC News, Amy Morris, wrote on social media handles that, ‘To say Lauren is dedicated and a hard worker is an understatement. Some days she never stopped — like the time there was a crash near the Lincoln Tunnel after her shift was over, and she sent video and did play-by-play from her apartment window.’ She added that Scala was so dedicated to her job that she preferred going to the studio to working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, she will still be contributing to NBC and WNBC, especially to the “New York Live” show.

Personal Life

Scala is unmarried without children, and is seemingly fully devoted to her profession. She keeps her private life below the radar, although in January 2013, there were rumors that she was engaged to a mysterious man, after she was spotted wearing an engagement ring.

Nonetheless, she never confirmed the allegation. She hasn‘t been involved in any scandal or rumor surrounding her business and personal life.

The TV program, “The Great American Health Challenge” has helped Scala reach out to many people, and motivate them to work out regularly, quit smoking, and observe a healthy diet. The show brings together participants from every New York borough who compete in a number of activities related to exercise, food, and many other things including getting more sleep and spending time outdoors without the ‘phone. Scala has admitted that she fully understands what the participants go through, saying that, ‘I have endured some similar experiences as the contestants – not only will it change the contestants’ lives, but I know it will change mine, too.’
