Fans of the science-fiction drama series “Runaways” must be familiar with the character of Alex Wilder, one of the lead roles, portrayed by Rhenzy Feliz. They do know all about this introverted and very skilled hacker, however, after the series ended, fans wanted to know more about the young actor who played this role.

Early life, family, and education
Rhenzy Feliz was born under the zodiac sign of Scorpio on 26 October 1997, in The Bronx, New York City USA; he holds American nationality and comes from a family of Dominican descent. He was raised by his single mother, Joelis Vallejo, who was 21 years old when she gave birth to him – there’s nothing known about his biological father.
Rhenzy and his mother often moved, but most of his childhood he spent in Florida, where he attended several elementary schools. In one of his interviews he said: ‘We moved to Florida because she hated the cold, and didn’t want me to grow up in an environment like that. We didn’t end up in an amazing place in Florida, but it was better than The Bronx in New York at that time… And because of her, I had a very good childhood.’
Rhenzy had an interest in sports from an early age, and played baseball for a while, but during his high school days, he discovered his love (and talent) for acting.
When his mother remarried, they moved with his stepfather to Los Angeles, California, where he attended Santa Monica High School; upon matriculating in 2015, he didn’t enroll in college but launched his acting career.
Roles in series
Rhenzy made his acting debut portraying Spencer in the 2016 series “Casual”, a comedy-drama that followed the story of a newly divorced sister and a bachelor brother who end up living under one roof again. The series was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical.
In the following year, Rhenzy was cast to play Aaron in the popular fantasy drama “Teen Wolf”, starring Tyler Posey, Holland Roden and Dylan O’Brien, which had 40 award nominations and won 23.

From 2017 until 2019, Rhenzy was seen playing his most notable role, to date, as Alex Wilder in “Runaways”, which followed the story of a group of teenagers who discover that their parents are super-villains in disguise, so decide to run away from their homes to discover the secrets of their origins.
Rhenzy’s performance in the series brought him the 2018 National Film and Television Award, USA for Best Actor in a TV Series.
Concurrently, he guest-starred as Marc in an episode of the series “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World” in 2018.
His most recent television role was his portrayal of Chad in the episode “Drive In” of the series “American Horror Stories” in 2021.
Roles in movies
Rhenzy made his big-screen debut portraying Ty in the 2020 movie “All Together Now”, opposite Auli’i Cravalho and Justina Machado. This drama was based on the book “Sorta Like a Rock Star” by Matthew Quick, and one of the favorite scenes was when Rhenzy plays a piano and Auli’i sings.
After the movie was premiered, Rhenzy said for Collider.com: ‘I heard that song 75,000 times because I had to learn how to play the song prior to shooting that scene. I’m not a piano player. I’d never played piano in my life before this movie. They knew that, so they had a piano teacher come over and teach me the song.’ He added that he liked playing piano, and that he would love to learn to play this instrument, although he plays the guitar.
In the following year, Rhenzy starred in the short movie “Jelly” before he was cast to play Wesley in “The Tender Bar”, a drama directed by George Clooney, starring Ben Affleck, Daniel Ranieri and Tye Sheridan, which was based on the memoir of American novelist and journalist J.R. Moehringer.
Next, Rhenzy was seen as Jose Sera in the 2021 movie “The Same Storm”, a drama written and directed by Peter Hedges about the tumults caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the same year, Rhenzy was heard as Camilo in the animated family comedy “Encanto”, which had 83 award nominations, and won 41, including the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film.
In 2022, he reprised his voice role in “Encanto Sing-Along”, and fans will be happy to hear that Disney announced the sequel of this big hit.
Love life and girlfriend
There have been various rumors concerning both Rhenzy’s love life and his sexual orientation, but most of the rumors about him being gay stopped back in 2018, when he revealed that he’s in a relationship with Isabella Gomez.
She’s a Colombian-American actress, perhaps known best for her role as Elena Maria Alvarez in the series “One Day at a Time”. The two began dating in the summer of 2018, and didn’t hide their love from the public eye. They often shared their joint pictures on their social media platforms, and seemed in love and happy. Rhenzy and Isabella attended various red carpet events together, including the Netflix 2019 Golden Globes After Party.
After a year and a half, the couple broke up, and both deleted photos featuring two of them from their Instagram accounts.
As of September 2022, it seems that Rhenzy is single, he hasn’t been married or engaged, and doesn’t have children.
