Born William Sanford Nye on 27 November 1955, in Washington, D.C. USA, he’s the son of Edwin Darby ‘Ned’ Nye, a contractor who served in World War II including working on Wake Island airstrip, while his mother is Jacqueline Jenkins, a World War II codebreaker.
His father Ned spent four years captive in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp, where he learned to tell time with the sun shadow of a shovel handle, as there was no electricity or watches in the camp.
Bill went to Lafayette Elementary School, and later Alice Deal Junior High School. He enrolled at Sidwell Friends High School on a scholarship, from which he matriculated in 1973, then enrolled at Cornell University to study at its Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
During his time at the university, Bill developed an interest in astronomy as he started taking astronomy classes under Carl Sagan. He finished his studies with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering in 1977.
Before becoming a praised comedian and science TV host, Bill worked for the Boeing Corporation and Sundstrand Data Control near Seattle. He joined the airplane manufacturer as an engineer after graduation, until the mid- ‘80s, and during his time there he invented a hydraulic resonance suppressor tube, which is used on Boeing 747 airplanes.

Bill’s and Blair’s romance was rather turbulent. The two started dating in the early 2000s. and eventually married in a ceremony held on 3 February 2006, officiated by Rick Warrant at the Entertainment Gathering at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles – famous American cellists provided the music.
However, their marriage was annulled seven weeks later by the State of California, but both Bill and Blair remained silent on why this happened.

Blair Tindall was born on 2 February 1960, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina USA. She is the daughter of George Brown Tindall, a historian, and his wife Blossom Tindall.
She became interested in music at an early age, and began playing piano in the early years, only to switch to oboe when she joined the junior high school band.
Blair went to North Carolina School of the Arts, and after matriculation enrolled at the Manhattan School of Music, from which she obtained a bachelor’s degree then a master’s, before furthering her studies at Stanford University, from which she obtained a masters in communication.
During her career as a musician, Blair has performed with such groups as the New York Philharmonic, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and also on soundtracks of many films, such as “Malcolm X” (1992), for which she has earned praises in the CD Review Magazine, “Crooklyn” (1994), then “Twilight” (2008), among many others.
