Vincent D’Onofrio was born in Brooklyn’s neighborhood of Bensonhurst, but grew up in Colorado and Hawaii. He is a son to Gennaro D’Onofrio and Phyllis D’Onofrio. As a teen, Vincent worked at community theatres that his father operated, running sound and building sets. He joined Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School, and after graduating he immediately started to appear in small community theatre productions.
