Philip John Clapp – aka Johnny Knoxville – was born in Knoxville, Tennessee USA, on 11 March 1971 – his zodiac sign is Aries, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor, stunt performer, comedian and a director, probably known best for being the co-creator and one of the main stars of the infamous MTV reality stunt show “Jackass”.

Johnny grew up in Knoxville alongside his two younger sisters. He matriculated from a local high school 1989, and then moved to California to pursue acting opportunities. After a few years of appearing in commercials and making minor film and TV appearances, he began to pitch his own ideas to TV networks in hopes of creating a new and unique TV show. One of the ideas he had was to test self-defense equipment on himself, which captured the interest of the creative team of the skateboarding magazine “Big Brother”, who included some of his stunts in their videos.

In 2000, another skateboarding stunt crew, CKY, gained a cult following and attracted the attention of one of the “Big Brother” executives, Jeff Tremaine, who suggested that Johnny and the CKY crew should join forces to create a stunt and prank TV show.

The demo footage of the show was sent to various networks, and the popular comedy sketch series “Saturday Night Live” offered the crew a recurring segment on their show. However, they weren’t satisfied with the idea, as they wanted to have full creative control of the project, so they later signed a deal with MTV.

Soon thereafter, they were joined by Steve-O, Ehren McGhehey and Preston Lacy, forming the final “Jackass” cast. The show premiered on 1 October 2000 on MTV, and quickly captured a wide audience. Through the show’s run, Johnny was perceived as a de facto leader of the crew, and he was responsible for a lot of ideas featured on the show.

In 2001, he announced that “Jackass” would be ending after its third season, revealing that he was unhappy with the amount of censorship inflicted by MTV, while also claiming that he and the rest of the crew were underpaid for their work. Despite its relatively short run, “Jackass” has become a cult classic, spawning six spin-off movies, several TV specials, a video game, and two dedicated documentaries.

Johnny has also appeared in numerous movies and TV series aside from “Jackass”, starting with “Men in Black II” (2002), in which he played a two-headed alien.

In 2005, he played the title role in the comedy drama “Daltry Calhoun”, written and directed by Katrina Holden Bronson, and played the role of an office worker pretending to be disabled to join the Special Olympics, in the comedy “The Ringer”.
