Briefly about Elon Musk
Elon was born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa, by his parents Errol and Maye Musk. His father is an engineer, pilot, and property developer; he has a sister, Tosca, and a brother, Kimbal.
At the age of 17, he relocated to Canada to enroll at Queen’s University, but two years later transferred to the University of Pennsylvania in the US, in 1977 graduating with a bachelor’s degree in physics and science. Even though he was accepted into the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program, he opted to start working, developing an internet startup.
He launched his first company with his brother Kimbal in 1995, entitled Zip2 Corporation, which provided online city guide software to newspapers. Elon sold the company four years later for $307 million in cash and $34 million in stock.
He and his brother then began working on their next project, which proved to be one of his most successful endeavors. They launched X.com, an online financial/service company, which allowed for the safe transfer and paying via the internet.
