In 1985 Wright released “I Have a Pony”, his first comedy album, consisting of numerous one-line jokes, which proved to be a great success, earning him a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album. In 2010, he became a part of the producing team of the FX comedy-drama television series “Louie”, which brought him two nominations for Emmy Awards.

Throughout his career, Wright has appeared in a number of television and film projects. He made his film debut in the 1985 comedy/drama film “Desperately Seeking Susan”, starring Madonna.
