He then joined the 1998 NFL Draft and was selected during the fifth round by the Baltimore Ravens. He joined their training camp but was later cut from the team, then signing with the Carolina Panthers, but during his first game in the NFL sustained a shoulder injury, and was placed on the injured reserve and soon released. The following year, he joined the Seattle Seahawks but didn’t make the cut to the main roster. He decided to turn his attention to joining NFL Europe in 2005, joining the Barcelona Dragons. He also later tried his hand at the New Orleans Saints, but sustained another injury, and gave-up ideas of a career in the NFL. His net worth increased somewhat during his playing career.

Sutter would win and the couple would marry in a televised wedding in 2003.
