Who is Meganne Young?

Megan Lynne Talde Young-Daez was born in Alexandria, Virginia USA, on 27 February 1990 – her zodiac sign is Pisces, and she holds both American and Filipino nationality. She’s an actress and a model, who’s been credited with appearing in 16 movies and TV series, perhaps known best for her portrayal of the supporting character Rachel in the 2018 romantic comedy movie “The Kissing Booth”. Written and directed by Vince Marcello, it starred Joey King, Jacob Elordi and Joel Courtney, and follows a teenager who has been forced to meet her secret high school crush in a kissing booth; the film won one of the three awards for which it was nominated.

Meganne reprised her role in the 2020 sequel “The Kissing Booth 2”, and the second sequel “The Kissing Booth 3” in 2021.

Early life and education

Meganne was raised alongside her younger sister Lauren Anne Talde Young in Alexandria, by their Filipino mother Victoria Talde, who was born in Pandan, Antique in the Philippines, and their American father Calvin Cole Young III. Her sister’s also an actress, and has appeared in close to 50 movies and TV series, while she’s perhaps known best for her portrayal of Eleng in the romantic drama “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, which has been airing since 1991.

When Meganne was 10 years old, the family moved to Castillejos, Zambales, the Philippines, and she later attended Regional Science High School III, at which she became interested in acting and modelling.

She was a member of the school’s drama club, and played lead characters in various plays performed at the school. Meganne matriculated in 2008, and then moved to Metro Manila to pursue an acting career; three years later, she enrolled at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in filmmaking in 2015.

Roles in movies

Meganne made her debut film appearance in 2013, with her portrayal of Michelle Feynman, in the historical drama “The Challenger Disaster”, directed by James Hawes, and which starred Joanne Whalley, William Hurt and Brian Dennehy. It tells the story of the real reason behind the disintegration of the space shuttle Challenger in 1986, and the movie won one of the three awards for which it was nominated.

In the following year, Meganne was cast to play Bride in the hit romantic science fiction drama “The Giver”, directed by Phillip Noyce, and which starred Brenton Thwaites, Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. It follows a community in which there’s no pain, suffering or wars, while a young boy has been chosen to learn about these things from an old man; the movie won three of the nine awards for which it was nominated.

A couple of Meganne’s following roles were in the 2015 comedy “Zum Teufel mit der Wahrheit”, the 2015 action thriller drama “Eye in the Sky”, and the 2017 historical crime thriller “The Dating Game Killer”. She made her debut TV series appearance with her portrayal of Nurse in a 2015 episode of the war comedy “Bluestone 42”, and Meganne gained recognition in the same year, when cast to play Abigail Ashe in nine episodes of the critically acclaimed adventure drama “Black Sails”. Created by Robert Levine and Jonathan E. Steinberg, it starred Toby Stephens, Jessica Parker Kennedy and Hannah New, and follows the adventures of Captain Flint and his crew of pirates; the series won 11 awards, including three Primetime Emmys, while it was nominated for 34 other awards.

In 2015, we saw Meganne play Priscilla Mullins in both episodes of the historical mini-series “Saints & Strangers”, and in 2017, she portrayed Anne, in the episode “In the Crimson Halls of Kane Hill” of the action adventure comedy “Blood Drive”.

Her only two other roles in TV series were in 2018, in the episode “Gods and Monsters” of the fantasy horror drama “Supernatural”, and the episode “Tender Is the Nate” of the action adventure drama “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”.

On 28 September 2013 in Bali, Indonesia, Meganne was crowned Miss World, the first time since the launch of the event in 1951 for a Filipino girl to become Miss World.

Love life and husband

Meganne’s highly secretive when it comes to her love life, but it’s still widely known that she’s today a married woman. It was revealed in February 2017 that Meganne was in a relationship with the popular Filipino model, actor and news anchor Mikael Banzon Daez, and that the two had begun dating in 2011, but kept the relationship a secret because of their careers. It was then revealed on 25 January 2020 that the two had married in a private ceremony, attended by only the closest of their friends and family members.

Meganne and Mikael don’t have children, and this is widely believed to be because they both want to remain focused on their careers, however, they are also those who believe that one of them, or perhaps both are infertile.

As of September 2021, Meganne’s married to Mikael Banzon Daez, and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and other interests

Meganne’s highly active on Instagram, as she seems to be enjoying the attention which she’s receiving from her over half a million followers. She’s uploaded close to 700 pictures, the majority of which have been taken during her everyday life.

She loves to travel, and her acting and modelling career have taken her all around the world.
