Jupiter Seaborn Sheeran

Jupiter Seaborn Sheeran is the second child of award-winning singer Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn. Her exact birthday is unknown, although her arrival to the Sheeran family was announced in mid-May 2022, with a cute Instagram photo of socks and a knitted blanket.

Ed and Cherry are known to be notoriously private when it comes to their offspring. Following the birth of first daughter Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, the “Shape of You” hitmaker asked the media and his followers for privacy; to this day, he and Cherry have yet to upload so much as a photo of either of the girls.

With that said, during a March 2023 press tour for his album “Subtract”, Ed shared that Cherry’s second pregnancy had been anything but easy. Apparently, the musician had been working on “Subtract” for a decade, writing and recording hundreds of acoustic songs – but then, in 2022, ‘a series of events changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I viewed music and art’.

During what should’ve been one of the happiest times of their lives, Ed and Cherry were told that Cherry had a tumor which she would be unable to treat until after the birth. In the same month, Ed’s best friend Jamal died, and he was embroiled in a plagiarism lawsuit after being taken to court by singers Sami Chokri and Ross O’Donoghue, who accused him of ripping off their 2015 song “Oh Why”.

Although the three events would’ve been traumatic enough on their own, Ed naturally spiraled into a deep state of depression and anxiety after such a difficult month. Due to other ‘turbulent things’ that were happening behind the scenes, the musician went on a two-month social media hiatus until he felt ready to get back out there.

With that said, Ed has been thriving in fatherhood, and not just because his daughters add structure to his previously chaotic routine, but because he now feels more grateful towards his own parents, John and Imogen. The musician also claims to have adopted a healthier lifestyle, and started doing more exercise.

Jupiter’s big sister Lyra was born in England in August 2020. Her birth announcement was shared on Instagram, with Ed thanking the ‘amazing’ delivery team who made Cherry’s birth process as easy as possible. Nearly a year later, he explained on a British talk show that he and his wife had chosen such a unique name because they wanted their daughter to be the only one with that name.

On his fourth studio album, Ed contributed a lullaby song to his firstborn, which doubled up as an ode to his close friend Michael, who passed away in the same year. He would later divulge that his hit song “Dusty” was inspired by his and Lyra’s morning routine; every morning, the father-daughter duo eat breakfast while listening to a different vinyl record.

Back to Jupiter – Ed didn’t reveal her name until a March 2023 cover story for Rolling Stone magazine. He also disclosed more details about Cherry’s tumor, which was successfully removed a month after the birth.

In the special Tour Edition of “Subtract”, Ed dedicated his second daughter the sweet song “Welcome to the World”. Although some families find it hard to go from one child to two, Ed and Cherry have been doing an excellent job, with Ed saying: ‘You love both kids exactly the same, but also completely differently.

Ed & Cherry

Ed and Cherry met as high-school students in Suffolk, England, but didn’t start dating until 2015. When they reunited in New York City through a mutual friend after years of not seeing each other, Cherry was working as a financial advisor, but they wasted no time in taking their friendship to the next level.

The exact timeline of their relationship is unknown, as Ed has striven to keep his private life away from the media. However, we do know that Cherry was the inspiration behind his 2017 megahit “Perfect”. As the financial advisor was still living in New York at the time, Ed was unable to see her first reaction to the song, which he sent to her via email.

Somewhere along the line, the couple moved in together, and adopted two kittens. In 2018, Ed shared via social media that he’d proposed, saying: ‘We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well.’

Despite being photographed with a silver band on his wedding finger in August 2018, the redheaded musician wouldn’t confirm his marital status until 2019, when he referred to Cherry as his wife in the song “Remember the Name”. In any case, an anonymous source claimed that the couple celebrated a small and intimate winter wedding in December 2018, with the ceremony and reception taking place at Ed’s luxurious Suffolk estate.

Cherry has been quietly supportive of her husband’s projects over the years, and although she doesn’t like to talk to the press herself, she co-starred in the music video for his 2019 collaboration with Ella Mai, “Put It All On Me”. In February 2022, Ed made sure to praise his other half during his Songwriter of the Year award acceptance speech at the BRITs. ‘…At the drop of a hat, [Cherry] will come to the middle of nowhere to a really secluded studio and live in-house,’ he gushed. ‘So thank you so much.’

Mental health is clearly an important topic in the Sheeran household, as Cherry encouraged her husband to start attending therapy in 2023. According to Ed, he feels that there’s less of a stigma surrounding mental health and similar issues in the US compared to in England. Naturally, the couple spend most of their time in Suffolk, but they are also known to travel to idyllic locations such as Venice, and of course the “Thinking Out Loud” crooner is frequently on the road for work purposes.

Cherry, who has no social media, is believed to have left her high-powered career behind to focus on being a stay-at-home mother: however, this isn’t entirely accurate. The University of Cambridge graduate is currently part of the World Climate team for Deloitte North & South Europe.
