Giannina Dinorah Maradona was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 16 May 1989 – her zodiac sign is Taurus, and she holds Argentinian nationality. She’s a social media star and a model, but who’s perhaps known best for being the daughter of the late Argentinian professional soccer player, Diego Maradona.

Early life and education

Giannina was raised in Buenos Aires alongside her sister Dalma by their father and their mother Claudia Villafane, an Argentinian film producer and businesswoman. Dalma’s today a popular actress, with close to 20 credits to her name, while she’s perhaps still known best for her portrayal of Dorine in the 2010 comedy movie “La Venganza de Ira Vamp”. Giannina also has a half-sister and five half-brothers.

Giannina was attending a local high school in Buenos Aires when she became interested in modelling, but was also interested in various other activities during her four years there. Mostly because she was motivated by her father, Giannina was physically highly active, and played various sports, including volleyball and soccer.

Upon matriculating in 2007, she chose not to enroll at college, but to focus on other interests.

In 2009, Giannina gave birth to their son Benjamin Aguero Maradona, but in 2012, she and Sergio divorced for unknown reasons.

He’s widely rated as amongst the best soccer players in the history of the sport; he was nicknamed ‘El Pibe de Oro’, which translates to ‘The Golden Boy’.

Diego was raised in Villa Fiorito, Argentina alongside his four sisters and two brothers, by their father Diego ‘Chitoro’Maradona, and their mother Dalma Salvadora Franco; Dalma was a housewife, while Chitoro was a factory worker. Both Diego’s brothers Raul and Hugo also became soccer players.

He was 10 days away from turning 16 when he played his first professional soccer game with Argentinos Juniors, against Talleres de Cordoba. He played with the club until 1981, when he signed with Boca Juniors, and with them won the league title.

Diego was then transferred to the Spanish soccer club Barcelona for $7.6 million, a world record at that time, and with his help, Barcelona won the Spanish national cup competition Copa del Rey. On 5 May 1984, during the finals of Copa del Rey, Diego started a fight with the Athletic Bilbao player Miguel Sola, headbutting him, while he then kicked two other players, and a major fight erupted. Diego was afterwards transferred to the Italian soccer club Napoli, for whom he played until 1992 when he quit disgraced, because of failed cocaine drug tests. He then played for Sevilla and Boca Juniors, before retiring from soccer, however, returning for various friendly games.

On 7 November 1989, Diego married Giannina’s mother Claudia Villafañe, but the two divorced in 2004 – during the procedure, Diego revealed that he was the father of Diego Sinagra, who was born on 20 September 1986. In 2014, Diego was in relationship with Rocio Oliva, and was once accused of physically assaulting her, which wasn’t confirmed; he gifted her a house in 2017, but they split in the following year.

It’s widely known that Diego was addicted to cocaine, and used the drug nearly every day from the mid-‘80s to the mid-2000s.

He died on 25 November 2020, suffering cardiac arrest while sleeping.
