Early life and education
Georges was raised in Perth by his parents, whose names and occupations he hasn’t revealed, and there is also no information regarding any siblings, so it’s assumed that he was raised an only child. His parents are still living in Australia.
He attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 1991, he moved to the USA, and enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design in 1995.
After graduation, he continued his education in Paris, France, and Miami, Florida, however, besides fashion he had an interest in painting and writing.
Career
Georges prefers to keep his private life a secret, so it was hard to find out more information about his career, however, on his Facebook profile back in 2007, he shared photos of his art pieces, so it’s assumed that he focused his career on painting.
Georges has published two books, both in October 2007, entitled “Six Inches Away” and “Pillowtalk”, which were bestsellers.
In March 2009, he shared photos of his 6,000-acre – or over 2400 hectares – ranch in Wyoming, and in the following years, he bought others in Nebraska and South Dakota; on his Linkedin profile, he presents himself as a rancher.
Love life and marriage with RuPaul
As mentioned, Georges is a secretive person when it comes to his private life, so he hasn’t spoken about his previous relationships, however, according to sources, he and RuPaul have been together for over 25 years. They are both a part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community.
The two met back in the ’90s in one of New York City’s nightclubs, about which RuPaul enjoys talking: ‘I met Georges right on the dance floor at the Limelight disco at 6th Avenue and 21st Street on his birthday in 1994. I had to go over and say, “Who are you? What are you doing? Can I put my arms around you?’ Because I’m tall, I’ve never been able to put my arms around someone’s shoulders who was taller than me.’
Georges and RuPaul married in 2017 in a secret ceremony on the 23rd anniversary of their first encounter, and since Georges avoids giving interviews, RuPaul spoke about their wedding saying: ‘that paper don’t mean nothing… if you’re devoted to a person, nothing’s going to change that.’
According to him the key to a successful relationship is trust and freedom, and it seems that for them, this is a winning formula since Georges spends most of his time on his ranch, while RuPaul works in Los Angeles, California – they see each other about every three weeks, but are still in love.
RuPaul once said for Vanity magazine: ‘He and I know that on this planet where there are millions and millions of people, the person I have found on this planet that I like the very most is him. And I know that for him the person he loves the most on this planet is me. I know that; there’s no doubt in my mind.’
As of February 2022, the two are still together, enjoying their love.
Age, height, and net worth
Georges is 49 years old, and has dark brown hair lightly grey beard, and dark brown eyes. He weighs around 215lbs (98kgs) and is 6ft 8ins (2.03m) tall.
As of early 2022, his net worth has been estimated at $1.5 million.
Who is RuPaul?
RuPaul Andre Charles was born under the zodiac sign of Scorpio on 17 November 1960, in San Diego, California USA; he holds American nationality and his ethnicity is of mixed European and African-American descent. His name RuPaul comes from the word ‘roux’ which is a mix of equal parts of flour and fat.
He was raised in the Catholic faith by his parents Ernestine and Irving, alongside his three sisters, Rene, Rosie and Renetta; when his parents divorced, RuPaul and his sisters continued to live with their mother.
RuPaul attended Gompers Preparatory Academy, and upon matriculating in 1978, he enrolled at Georgia State University in Atlanta, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts in 1982.
In the early ‘80s, he worked as a musician and performer in the Plaza Theatre, Atlanta, then in the ‘90s he moved to New York City, and launched his career as a drag queen on the LGBT nightclub scene.
He rose to prominence after he released his debut album “Supermodel of the World”, in 1993 – and the music video for the single “Supermodel (You Better Work)” achieved huge success on the Music Television (MTV), and his next two singles “A Shade Shady” and “Back to My Roots” both went to the top on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
RuPaul made his acting debut in the 1992 movie “Inferno”, and until today, he has over 90 acting credits, with some of his most notable roles being in movies such as “But I’m a Cheerleader”, “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything”, and “Someone Great”, among others.
However, we can say that he is perhaps known best as the most commercially successful drag queen of all time, and one of the biggest influencers among the LGBT population, which was confirmed through the Time annual list of the most influential people in the world. His Instagram account has been followed by over 4.5 million people, while his Twitter account has amassed nearly 1.5 million followers.
Of course, as with every other celebrity, there are people who don’t like his work, and RuPaul has once spoken about this saying:
‘What other people think of me is not my business. What I do is what I do. How people see me doesn’t change what I decide to do. I don’t choose projects so people don’t see me as one thing or another. I choose projects that excite me. I think the problem is that people refuse to understand what drag is outside of their own belief system.’
As of early 2022, this 61-year-old model, actor, singer-songwriter, author, and television personality, has a net worth estimated at over $60 million.
