David Michael Mirra was born on the 4th April 1974, in Chittenango, New York USA, and was probably best known for being not only a professional BMX rider, but also a rallycross racing driver, who held the record with the most X Games titles – 24. He competed for the Subaru Rally Team USA, and he was also recognized for winning the 2014 Race Across America. His career was active from 1992 to 2016, when he died.

Right after that, he moved to Greenville, North Carolina, where his brother studied. Soon after, Ryan Nyquist, a former professional BMX rider, began to live with his brother, and thanks to him, Dave turned professional.

Before his professional career began, Dave was a member of the Haro Bikes BMX team from 1987, when he was a 13-year-old boy. He excelled in it, so during the 1988 year, he starred in some videos, produced by Plywood Hoods. In the following year, he earned a sponsorship from Vision Street Wear, as well as from GT Bicycles, after which he joined Hoffman Bikes in 1992.

Thus, his professional career began in 1992, and every year he won the X Games title from 1995 until 2009, except in 2006. In total, he won 24 X Games medals, setting a new record, and increasing his net worth by a large margin. Thanks to his skills, he also won the Best Male Action Sports Athlete ESPY Award in 2005. In 2011, he decided to retire from BMX riding.

Parallel with BMX riding, Dave competed in rallying and rallycross for Subaru Rally Team USA from 2008 until 2013, which was his best year, as he won the Global RallyCross Championship, increasing further his net worth.
