Chuy is the youngest of seven children, and suffers from dwarfism; he is only 4 feet and 3 inches (130 cm) tall. Because of the poverty that struck his family, Chuy immigrated to the United States in his teen years and settled in San Fernando Valley. He received his high school education at Sylmar High School. Little else is known about his life before the early 2000s, when his acting career started.

His first credited screen appearance was in the short film “Romp” in 2003. Four years later he was selected as the sidekick to the host Chelsea Handler in “Chelsea Lately”, becoming the main butt of Chelsea’s jokes on the show. Little by little Chuy gained in popularity which resulted in other appearances, and he also featured in the spin-off talk show of the “Chelsea Lately”, called “After Lately” (2011-2013), plus such as “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” (2008), and “The Hooters 2010 International Swimsuit Pageant” (2010). In 2013 he was a contestant in “Splash”, the diving reality competition show, however, he injured his heel, and had to withdraw from competing.

He is also an accomplished actor; after “Romp”, he appeared in the film “The Honeymooners” (2005), and then had a small role in the Academy Award- nominated action adventure “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” in 2007, starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, while in recent years he appeared in the comedy “The Sex Trip” (2016), and “Buscando Nirvana” (2017), which only increased his net worth.

Regarding his personal life, little is known about Chuy’s love life, although other aspects are available. He is known for his charitable endeavors; in his hometown, Chuy has started The Little Nugget Foundation, through which he helps people battling alcohol addiction by providing them food and clothes. Furthermore, he has opened The Bravo Academy in Los Angeles, through which he helps Latin artists reach their full potential, hopefully paving their way into the entertainment industry.

Chuy himself battled alcoholism in the past, and prostate cancer, but fortunately he managed to recover successfully from both difficulties.
