Bashir Salahuddin was born on 6 July 1976, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He’s one of six children born to Islamic parents, who divorced in the early 2000s. After high school, he enrolled at Harvard University as a pre-medical student, and graduated in 1998.

However, he then pursued acting instead of medicine, even attending the Hangar Theatre’s training program, where he met Diallo Riddle, who quickly became his writing partner.

Once he finished his studies at Harvard, Chandra’s husband returned to Chicago, where he worked as a paralegal to save enough money, and then move permanently to Los Angeles.

He joined Warner Brothers as a personal assistant, but also worked as a waiter to support himself. He began making short videos with Diallo, and were soon noticed by David Alan Grier, who hired them as writers for the show “Chocolate News” in 2008.

The following year, he joined Jimmy Fallon’s show as a writer through 2011, contributing to a total of 402 episodes of the critically acclaimed show.
