Joseph Anthony ‘Joe; Budden II was born in New York City, USA, on 31 August 1980 – his zodiac sign is Virgo, and he holds American nationality. He’s a media personality and a former rapper, known for hosting several hip hop-related podcasts, which earned him the nickname the Howard Stern of Hip Hop.
Joe grew up in the Spanish Harlem neighborhood of New York City, alongside his older brother.
They were raised solely by their mother, as their father was absent for most of their childhoods, which later became a subject of some of Joe’s songs.
At the age of 13, Joe moved to New Jersey with his family, and enrolled at the local Lincoln High School. For his second year, he was sent away to the Laurinburg Institute, a renowned boarding school in North Carolina, and started making music during his time there.
Following his return to New Jersey, he started abusing drugs, but voluntarily went into rehab in July 1997. He didn’t matriculate high school, and at the age of 20 ended up fathering a child with an older woman. Around that time, he started taking music more seriously, and in 2011 he released several mixtapes and demos.
Joe signed a deal with Def Jam Records in 2002, releasing his debut studio album entitled “Joe Budden” on 10 June 2003, which debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 chart.
In the same year he released two mixtapes, “Mood Muzik: The Worst of Joe Budden” and “Mood Muzik 2: Can It Get Any Worse?”, which both received critical acclaim.
In 2007, Joe parted ways from Def Jam, signing a multi-album deal with Amalgam Digital. In February the following year, he released “Mood Muzik 3: The Album”, which had also been praised by the critics, despite not being a big commercial success. Joe released his third studio album entitled “Halfway House”, on 28 October 2008, exclusively in digital format, and was the first in a series of three thematically connected albums.
In January 2013, Joe joined the cast of the 3rd season of “Love & Hip Hop: New York”, and returned for season four in the following year.
Two years later, he started his broadcasting career, as the host of the radio show “I’ll Name This Podcast Later”, which was later renamed to “The Joe Budden Podcast”. In 2016, Joe released his last studio album “Rage & The Machine”, which debuted at #40 on the Billboard 200 chart.
From April to December 2017, Joe was co-hosting the “Complex” show “Everyday Struggle”, along with DJ Academiks and Nadeska Alexis. In June the same year, he was involved in an infamous incident with the Atlanta-based rap group Migos, after walking out of their interview.
Aside from hosting “The Joe Budden Podcast”, Joe is also a member of the board of directors of the crowd funding service “Patreon”, as the Creative Equity Advisor.
Joe is 41 years old; he’s bald and has brown eyes, is 6ft (1.83m) tall, and weighs around 172lbs (78kgs).
