Sofia was raised in Florida as her parents moved there from Colombia not long before she was born. She studied at St. Hugh School prior to progressing to Carrolton School of the Sacred Heart, matriculating in 2001; Sofia continued her education at the University of California, Los Angeles, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in communications in 2005. She also honed her dance skills at the Motion Dance Studio.
Sofia’s breakthrough came when she landed the lead role as Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen, in the Disney Channel Original movie “Descendants”, released in 2015. The film explored the lives of teenage children of Disney’s most iconic villains as they navigate the challenges of being good or evil.
