Who is Alejandro Camacho?
Mexican actor Alejandro Camacho Pastrana was born under the zodiac sign Cancer on 11 July 1954, in Mexico City. He has close to 80 acting credits and is perhaps still known best for playing Andres in the 1983 thriller film “Bajo la Metralla”, which Felipe Cazals directed, and which starred Humberto Zurita, Maria Rojo and Jose Carlos Ruiz. It follows the leader of a guerrilla group Pedro, and the film won seven of its 10 award nominations.
Alejandro’s still today active in the movie industry, and is currently shooting for the upcoming series “Minas de Pasion”.
Early life and education
Alejandro was raised in Mexico City by his parents; it’s believed that his father was a doctor and his mother a housewife but because Alejandro’s yet to talk about his parents in public, this remains unconfirmed. He hasn’t talked about having siblings either, but it’s believed that he was raised alongside his younger brother and sister.
Alejandro was into several activities while attending a local high school in Mexico City as he often played soccer with his peers, appeared in school plays and was on a school music band. He matriculated in 1972 and although he hasn’t discussed his further education, it’s believed that Alejandro attended college, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1976.
Roles in TV series
Alejandro’s debut TV series role was in the 1980 romantic drama “Soledad”, and he gained recognition in 1983, when cast to star as Ignacio in all 150 episodes of the drama “Cuando los Hijos se Van”, which also starred Enrique Rocha and Roberto Ballesteros, and follows a husband and wife whose lives have changed now that their sons have moved out.
In 1984, Alejandro appeared in a couple of episodes of the action “La Traicion”, and the year 1985 saw him star in all 124 episodes of both the romantic drama “Angelica” and the drama “El Angel Caido”. What marked the second half of the ‘80s for him was portraying Dr. Omar Santelmo in 194 episodes of the 1989 romantic thriller “El Extrano Retorno de Diana Salazar”, created by Margarita Villasenor, and which starred Lucia Mendez, Alma Muriel and Jorge Martinez; it follows a woman who can move things with her mind.

In 1991 and 1992, Alejandro played Federico Cantu in all 200 episodes of the adventure “Muchachitas”, starring alongside Cecilia Tijerina and Tiare Scanda; it follows the lives of four best friends. Some of his roles in the remainder of the ‘90s were in the drama “Imperio de Cristal”, the crime thriller “La Sombra del Otro” and the romantic drama “Mi Pequena Traviesa”.
In 2003, Alejandro played Bruno Murillo Valdez in 94 episodes of the romantic drama “Bajo la Misma Piel”, which starred Kate del Castillo, Diana Bracho and Juan Soler, and follows two people of different social classes who’ve fallen in love. He appeared in only three other TV series in the 2000s: the 2008 drama “Capadocia”, the 2009 drama “Alma de Hierro” (lead role), and another 2009 drama “Para Volver a Amar”.
In 2014 and 2015, Alejandro played Claudio in the drama “I Don’t Trust Men Anymore”, which starred Macaria, Gabriel Soto and Adriana Louvier, and follows a woman whose heart has been broken multiple times; the series won three awards.
Some of Alejandro’s most recent TV series roles have been in 66 episodes of the 2020 comedy “Como si Fuera la Primera Vez”, 89 episodes of the 2021 drama “Empire of Lies” (lead role) and 105 episodes of the 2023 drama “Minas de Pasion”.
Roles in movies
Alejandro’s debut film role was playing Obediente in the 1981 action crime comedy “High Risk”, written and directed by Stewart Raffill, and which starred Lindsay Wagner, Anthony Quinn and James Brolin. It follows the lives of four naïve Americans in need of cash. Some of Alejandro’s other film roles in the ‘80s were in the 1981 romantic thriller “Seduction”, the 1983 mystery thriller “God’s Crooked Lines” and the 1990 crime action “Ciudad sin Ley”.

In 1992, he portrayed Federico Cantu in the romantic drama “El Especial de Muchachitas”, directed by Alfredo Gurrola and Jose Angel Garcia, and which starred Emma Laura, Tiare Scanda and Cecilia Tijerina; it follows the lives of four best friends. Alejandro could then have been seen appearing in the 1994 crime mystery “Guerrero Negro”, and in 2003 the adventure fantasy “Zurdo” and the drama “Mujeres Infieles II”.
What marked the 2000s for him was perhaps playing the main character Octavio in the 2007 adventure “Shirgo (La Leyenda del Cagalar)”, written and directed by Rodrigo Lebrija, and which also starred Mara Cuevas and Tamara Monserrat; it follows a 10 years old boy as he’s learning about his grandfather’s legend.
The year 2014 saw Alejandro play the lead character Erick Salazar in the drama “Seduccion (aka Secreto De Amor)”, written and directed by Gonzalo Gonzalez, and which also starred Vanessa Kobi and Fatima Torre; it follows a middle-aged college professor who’s begun having an affair with his student.
Some of Alejandro’s most recent film roles have been in the 2022 comedy “Amores Incompletes”, and in 2023 the comedy “Mother’s Day Is Cancelled” and another comedy “Hasta La Madre! Del Dia de los Muertos”.
Other credits
Alejandro has four producing credits. His producing debut was the 1993 horror fantasy comedy film “Aqui Espaantan!”, while in 1994 he then went on to work on the crime mystery movie “Guerrero Negro” and the action adventure comedy movie “El Tesoro de Clotilde”, and all 120 episodes of the 1998 romantic adventure series “Hurricane”.
Some of his talk-show appearances have been in “Es de Noche!… Y ya Llegue”, “T. A. P. Taller de Actores Profesionales” and “Whats Up Alicia”.

Alejandro won a 1984 Mexican Cinema Journalists Award for Best Supporting Actor, for his performance in “Bajo la Metralla”.
He was also nominated for a 2003 MTV Movie Award for Favorite Villain, for “Zurdo” and a 2018 Mexican Cinema Journalists Award for Best Supporting Actor, for “Everybody Loves Somebody”.
Love life and marriage
Alejandro rarely talks about his love life in public, but we still know about two women whom he’s been with.
He was in a relationship with Mexican actress Barbara Guillen in the ‘70s, and she gave birth to their daughter Francesca Guillen on 14 June 1977; Francesca’s today a popular actress.
In 1986, Alejandro exchanged vows with the late Mexican actress and TV producer Rebecca Anne Jones Fuentes Berain; she gave birth to their son Maximiliano Camacho Jones, but they divorced in 2011; Rebecca passed away aged 65 on 22 March 2023.
Alejandro seems to be unattached as of January 2024, was married to Rebecca Anne Jones Fuentes Berain and has a son with her, as well as a daughter with former girlfriend Barbara Guillen.
