Who is Traylor Howard?
Traylor Elizabeth Howard was born in Orlando, Florida USA, on 14 June 1966 – her zodiac sign is Gemini, and she holds American nationality. She’s an actress with close to 20 credits to her name, perhaps still known best for her portrayal of Natalie Teeger in the critically acclaimed crime comedy series “Monk”. It was created by Andy Breckman, starred Tony Shalhoub, Jason Gray-Stanford and Ted Levine, and follows the San Francisco detective Adrian Monk who’s suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder, and is now helping police solve crimes. The series aired from 2002 to 2009 (Traylor joined the cast in 2005), and won 30 awards, including eight Primetime Emmys, while it was nominated for 47 other awards.

Early life and education
Traylor was raised in Orlando by her father Robert M. Howard Jr., who was the president at Howard Fertilizer and Chemical Company, and her mother Peggy E. (nee Traylor) who was a housewife.
Traylor was interested in numerous activities while attending Lake Highland Preparatory School, and although she was also into acting, and had appeared in several school plays, she wasn’t thinking about launching a career in the film industry. She was also into creative writing and dancing, and was amongst the best students at her class.
Upon matriculating in 1984, Traylor enrolled at Florida State University, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications in 1988; she worked various jobs for the following six years, before launching her acting career.
Roles in TV series
Traylor made her debut TV series appearance in the 1994 episode “Madame Ex” of the adventure comedy drama “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”, and gained recognition in 1996, when cast to play one of the lead characters, Joy Byrnes, in the comedy “Boston Common”; it was created by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, also starred Anthony Clark and Hedy Burress, and follows a man who has moved to Virginia from Boston so that he could spy on his sister who has just enrolled at college.
Between 1998 and 2001, Traylor starred as Sharon Carter, in the romantic comedy “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place”, created by Danny Jacobsen, and which also starred Ryan Reynolds and Richard Ruccolo.
The series follows three people in their 20s who are sharing an apartment in Boston, and are all working at the same pizza place; it won two of the three awards for which it was nominated. The year 2002 then saw Traylor make a guest appearance in an episode of three series: the drama “The West Wing”, the drama “First Monday”, and the mystery crime drama “The Division”.
Traylor has appeared in only two other TV series, besides “Monk”; in 2002, she played Alice O’Connor in eight episodes of the comedy “Bram and Alice”, and in 2007 she appeared in the episode “Mr. Monk Goes to the Gym” of the mystery comedy mini-series “Monk Webisodes”.
Roles in movies
Traylor made her debut film appearance in the 1995 drama “Till the End of the Night”, written and directed by Larry Brand, and which starred Scott Valentine, Katherine Kelly Lang and John Enos III. It follows Diana who’s married to John Davenport, with whom she has two children, while her violent former husband has now decided to make her life very hard.
In 1998, she was cast to play Anne Henning, in the comedy “Confessions of a Sexist Pig”, while a couple of Traylor’s following roles were in the 1998 comedy “Dirty Work”, the 2000 music video “Foo Fighters: Breakout”, and the critically acclaimed 2000 comedy “Me, Myself & Irene”, which starred Jim Carrey and Renee Zellweger, and won two of the six awards for which it was nominated.
In 2005, she portrayed the main character Tonya Avery in the family fantasy comedy “Son of the Mask”, directed by Lawrence Guterman, and which also starred Jamie Kennedy and Alan Cumming. It follows the cartoonist Tim Avery who has just found the mask of Loki; the movie won seven of the 19 awards for which it was nominated.
Traylor’s only other three movie role have been in the comedy “Nolan Knows Best”, the short animated action “Simon Says Let’s Stop Climate Change!” both in 2010, and the 2016 short animated drama “Simon Says Save the Climate!”
Other credits
Traylor sang three songs in three episodes of the series “Monk” in 2005 and 2006.
She has made a guest appearance in an episode of various talk-shows, including “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, “The Tony Danza Show” and “Dennis Miller”.

In 2009, Traylor won a Gracie Allen Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress – Comedy Series, for her performance in “Monk”.
Love life and husband
Traylor has married thrice. She married her first husband Cameron Hall on 2 February 1991; he’s an actor, who’s perhaps still known best for his portrayal of Ranch Hand, in the romantic series “Melrose Place”, which aired from 1992 to 1999.
Traylor and Cameron divorced on 12 March 1993, for unknown reasons.
On 26 April 2003, she married Christian Navarro, a non-celebrity American man, but the two divorced in 2006, again for unknown reasons, however, according to various rumors circulating the internet, Traylor began seeing Jarel Portman in 2004, while still married to Christian, and on 24 November 2006 she gave birth to their son Sabu. On 1 January 2011, she and Jarel exchanged vows in a private ceremony, attended by only a couple of their closest friends and family members; in 2012, Traylor gave birth to their second son Julien.
As of October 2021, Traylor’s married to her third husband Jarel Portman, and has two children with him.
Hobbies and other interests
Traylor’s main hobby is travelling, and her acting career has made it possible for her to travel around the world. She’s been to many US states, and a couple of European and Asian countries, while her dream travel destination is Paris in France.
She’s a cat-lover, and had previously uploaded several pictures of her cats onto her Instagram account, however, it seems that Traylor has recently deleted all the pictures from her account, for unknown reasons.

She was physically quite active in her 20s and 30s, and had multiple training sessions at the gym each week, mostly because it was important for her acting career to stay in shape.
Traylor has her own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Matt Damon, Tom Hanks and Jennifer Aniston, and a couple of her favorite movies are “Good Will Hunting”, “Saving Private Ryan” and “Sleepless in Seattle”.
