Walter Elias Disney, commonly known as Walt Disney, was a famous American film director and producer, cartoonist, businessman, voice actor, as well as a film editor. A cultural icon, Walt Disney rose to prominence when he co-founded a multinational mass media corporation called “The Walt Disney Company”. Founded in 1923, by Walt Disney and Roy O. Walt Disney was born in 1901, in Chicago, Illinois, and later his family moved out to Kansas City. While in Kansas, Disney studied at the Kansas City Art Institute. As a teenager, Disney moved back to Chicago, where he purchased shares in “O-Zell” company, in hopes of working there. Aside from that, Walt Disney attended McKinley High School, and then enrolled in Pesmen-Rubin Art Studio, where he met Ubbe Iwerks. Hence, the two decided upon starting their own company. “Iwerks-Disney” was founded in 1920, but it met with financial issues, as a result of which Disney had to work at “Kansas City Film Ad Company”.

As time passed, Disney’s interests changed from cartoons to animations, and he decided to become an animator instead. Two years later, he co-founded “Laugh-O-Gram” studio, which soon went bankrupt. It was with “Disney’s Brothers Studio”, currently known as “The Walt Disney Company” that he finally rose to prominence. Nowadays, Walt Disney is known for creating such remarkable cartoons as “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit”, “Mickey Mouse”, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, “Bambi” and “Alice in Wonderland” to name a few.
