Education and early life

Victoria and her younger sister were raised in Rome by their Italian father and Danish mother; she hasn’t shared a lot about her parents, but it’s known that her mother died from cancer in 2015.

Victoria fell in love with music at the age of eight, especially with rock ‘n’ roll as her parents listened to it at home nearly every day. It was also at the age of eight that Victoria began taking guitar lessons, while she was 13 when she took on the bass. She was to enroll at high school in 2014, but began suffering from panic attacks and had to take a year off; Victoria went on to study at Scuola Media Gianicolo, at which she met her fellow Måneskin members, and she matriculated from Liceo Classico Virgilio in 2019.

She then focused on music, rather than to go after a college degree.

Her band Måneskin

After having met at school, Victoria, Thomas and Damiano started looking for a drummer on Facebook, and Ethan Torchio from the nearby city of Frosinone applied; although they began performing in 2015, it was only in the following year that they chose Måneskin as the band’s name, as they had to have a name when they applied to compete in the local contest The Pulse. It was Victoria who came up with the name, as she’s half-Danish and her bandmates wanted a Danish name for the band – Måneskin, which means ‘Moonlight’. They won The Pulse, and attracted even more attention when they began performing in the streets of Rome, specifically in the Colli Portuensi district.

Their first live concert was in the nearby city of Faenza, while they then went on to perform at several venues in Denmark.

The year 2017 saw Måneskin compete in the 11th season of the Italian talent show “X Factor”, losing out to Italian singer Lorenzo Licitra in the finals; their original song which they performed in the show entitled “Chosen”, was released on 24 November 2017, and peaked at #2 on the Italian Ferezione Industria Musicale Italiana (FIMI) Singles Chart. Their first Italian-language song, “Moriro Da Re” came out on 23 March 2018, while their debut album “Il Ballo Della Vitta” followed on 26 October of the same year; its lead single “Torna a Casa” topped the charts in Italy. The band then released the documentary movie about themselves “This is Måneskin”, as a way to promote the album.

Their fourth single, “Fear for Nobody” was released in January 2019, and was followed by their fifth “L’altra Dimensione” in April, and then the single “Le Parole Lontane” in September, certified platinum, and which peaked at #5 on the FIMI Singles Chart.

Måneskin embarked on their first international tour in 2018 and 2019, with more than 70 sold-out dates.

From 2019 through 2020, they lived in London, England and recorded new music there; their seventh single “Vent’anni” came out in October 2020, and it was on 6 March 2021 that they won the Sanremo Music Festival with their song “Zitti e Buoni”. Only two weeks later, their second album “Teatro d’ira Vol. I” was released.

Having won Sanremo, Måneskin earned their right to represent Italy at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest with the same song; they won by scoring 524 points, marking Italy’s third Eurovision win after Gigliola’s 1964 win and Toto Cutugno’s win in 1990. The remainder of the year saw Måneskin tour around Europe, while the year 2022 saw them tour in Japan and the US.

Their 11th single, “Supermodel” came out on 13 May 2022, and was followed by their 12th “The Loneliest” on 7 October. Their third album “Rush!” came out on 20 January 2023, and it’s recently been revealed that Måneskin is to perform at the 2023 Glastonbury Festival.
