Who is Justin Ervin?

American cinematographer and director Justin Ervin was born in Atlanta, Georgia USA, on 31 December 1988, meaning his zodiac sign is Capricorn. He’s probably best known for having written and directed the 2014 short drama movie “Six Months Later”, which starred Bettina Bennett, Chris Berry and K. D. Chalk, and follows the recently wed couple who are celebrating their six months of marriage, and might now split because the man has lost his job.

Education and early life

Justin was raised in Atlanta alongside his brother Louis and sister Kia, by their father Louis Ervin and mother Katin Griffy; not a lot is known about Justin’s family, because he respects their privacy, but it’s believed that his mother’s a piano teacher, and his father a high school teacher.

Justin grew up being focused on his education, as he was urged by his parents to do well at school so that he could eventually pursue a college degree; he was interested in a number of activities during his high school years, including acting with the school’s drama club, and playing soccer.

Upon matriculating in 2007, Justin enrolled at college and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in media and video production. His debut as a cinematographer was the 2007 documentary movie “Derby in Black”. Justin produced and directed the 2012 documentary sports movie “Elephant in the Room”, which follows former boxing champion Devonne as she’s mentoring two teenage girls, together with her partner coach Tabbi.

The year 2013 saw him work on the short musical comedy film “Tunnel of Love”, directed by Leo Fiorica and Roy Petersen, and which starred Katie Fabel, Ed Bergtold and Robert Gladding. It follows the life of a couple, the girl being obsessed with a rock ‘n’ roll legend. The following year saw Justin work on the short documentary film “The Pain of Love”, and in 2016 on the short comedy drama “Peach Fuzz”.

Most recently, in 2020, he worked on the documentary movie “Down a Dark Stairwell”, directed by Ursula Liang, and which starred Lesley Steele; it tells the story of Chinese-American police officer Peter Liang, who killed an innocent unarmed black man Akai Gurley in 2014; the movie won five of its six award nominations.

Justin was a production assistant on the 2005 documentary movie “Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take 2 ½”, and 31 episodes of the 2008 reality show “Paranormal State”.

He was the second director of photography on the 2018 short documentary movie “Between Yourself and Me”.

She was a backstage host for Miss USA in 2016 and 2017, as well as for Miss Universe in 2016, ‘17 and ‘18; Ashley was also a judge on the popular competition show “America’s Next Top Model”.
