Terry McAuliffe was born into an Irish-American family, a son of Mildred Katherine Lonergan and Jack McAuliffe, real estate agent and local Democratic politician. Terry grew up in New York, and went to the Bishop Ludden Junior/Senior High School, from where he matriculated in 1975 and then graduated with a bachelor’s degree from The Catholic University of America in 1979.
