Fabio Cannavaro Net Worth $45 Million
Born into a middle-class family with two siblings, Fabio first expressed his interest in football while he was still a child. Since his father was a football player as well, and played for a local provincial team, it is no wonder that both Fabio and his younger brother engaged in this sport. Cannavaro was very young when he was noticed by the recruiters from Napoli, while still playing for a team from Bagnoli. Promptly after joining, he became part of Napoli’s youth team, and after gaining significant experience and progress, Canavaro entered the club’s first team making his debut when defeating Juventus in 1993.
However, due to Napoli’s unenviable financial situation, he was sold to Parma in 1995, instantly becoming a first team player. During his stay in this club, Fabio won the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Cup. At one point, his brother Paolo also joined the team so they spent two seasons playing side by side. At the time of his final season with Parma, Fabio won his second Coppa Italia title.
In 2002, he joined the Internazionale club of Milan, which paid him a sum of €23 million to become their player, thus considerably expanding his net worth. Cannavaro then led Internazionale to the semi-finals of the 2002 Champions League, but two years later he was sold to Juventus.
This turned out to be a very prosperous period for Fabio, as he won four Oscar Del Calcio awards and defender of the year awards in 2005 and 2006, all while playing for Juventus. Soon afterwards he signed for Real Madrid, where he spent the next three seasons, and won the La Liga titles in 2006-7 and 2007-8. He was also named the FIFA World Player Of The Year in 2006, and won the Ballon d’Or – the only defender to gain this honour.
Internationally, Cannavaro won two European titles with the Italian Under-21 team, was selected for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics team, and appeared in four World Cups and two European Cups. Fabio made his senior debut in 1997, and played in 136 games for his country.
After a short return to Juventus in 2009, after the 2010 World Cup Fabio moved to play for the Al-Ahli club in Dubai, however, in 2011 Cannavaro announced his retirement due to severe knee problems.
Fabio has continued his involvement in football, although in a different form. Upon his retirement he was named the global brand ambassador and Technical Consultant of the Al-Ahli Club, eventually becoming their head coach just a year later.
In 2014, Cannavaro became the manager of Guangzhou Evergrande, multiple champion of Chinese Super League for one year, before moving to his current position as the head coach of Al-Nassr, Saudi Arabian football club.
In his personal life, Cannavaro has been married to Daniela Arenoso since 1996, and the couple have three children. He is the co-founder of Fondazione Cannavaro Ferrara charity foundation, which concentrates on cancer research and treatment in his native Naples.
