Sasha saw much of the USA in her childhood, due to frequent moves as her disabled brother needed special school and hospital care. They settled in Boston, Massachusetts, where Sasha received her higher education online, but spent much of her free time watching the All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling, and so wanted to try herself as a wrestler.

In 2008 she joined Chaotic Wrestling in Woburn, Massachusetts, as a trainee, and two years later made debut in the ring fighting under the name Mercedes KV. It was an intergender tag team, with she and Nikki Roxx, against Alexxis and Danny E, but the two lost. Sasha and Nikki continued to collaborate but without much success, winning only one match together. Aside from tag team, Sasha also fought solo, but lost her debut match against Danny E. However, she bounced back in late 2011, winning several fights, which brought her a chance to compete for the title. Sasha was victorious in the “I Quit” match against Alexxis, and became the Chaotic Wrestling Women’s Champion, which significantly increased her wealth.

She successfully defended her title nine times, defeating such wrestlers as Barbie, Nikki Roxx, Luscious Latasha, Alexxis, Mistress Belmont, and Aida Marie, and became the longest reigning champion in the division, with 260 days in total, before she left the CW, as she had signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Sasha has also wrestled in New England Championship Wrestling, and National Wrestling Alliance parallel with her stint in Chaotic Wrestling. She proved her dominance in the ring in NECW, by losing only one of her fights. She also dominated in NWA, and once the WWE offered her a contract, she left both independent promotions.

Once at WWE, she was sent to NXT, where she first participated under the name Sasha Banks. In her first match on television, Sasha lost to Paige, but in her first match next year on the screen, she showcased her skills to the public and defeated Alicia Fox. She then got her storyline, meaning she became an important part of the division. She also feuded with several wrestlers, including Charlotte and Audrey Marie. It was in 2015 that Sasha won the NXT Women’s Championship by defeating Charlotte, Bayley and Becky Lynch in the fatal four-way match. This highly increased her net worth, and also her popularity.

After winning the title, she defended it against Charlotte in the first match, and then defeated Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, and several others, before losing to Bayley on the 22nd August 2015, ending her reign at 192 days.

In 2016, Sasha joined Raw, and since then has been competing in the promotion with great success; she has won the title on four occasions, which increased her net worth to a large degree.

Regarding her personal life, Sasha has been married to wrestler Kid Makaze since 2016 – real name Sarath Ton. Sasha is related to Snoop Dog and music producer Daz Dillinger and singers Ray J and Brandy Norwood are cousins.

She states that the deceased wrestling icon Eddie Guerrero was her favorite, and she attended the episode of Raw dedicated to him.

Sasha is rather religious, and practices Christianity.
