Born as Jatin Khanna on the 29th December 1942, in Amritsar, Punjab India, and was an actor, producer and politician, best known as the First Superstar of Indian cinema. Khanna starred in over 150 Bollywood films including the “Aradhana” (1969), “Anand” (1971), “Amar Prem” (1971), and “Bawarchi” (1972). He passed away in 2012.

In 1965, Khanna won the All India Talent Contest, and then debuted in Chetan Anand’s film called “Aakhri Khat” (1966). The following year, Rajesh starred as Kumar, an Indian living in Africa in the thriller “Raaz”, and then had a lead role in the romantic comedy “Baharon Ke Sapne” (1967). He continued with prominent roles in numerous movies during the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, the most notable of which was in the “Aradhana” (1969) playing a pilot named Arun, alongside Sharmila Tagore and Sujit Kumar. In 1971, Khanna had a lead part in a top rated Indian Film called “Anand”, the story about a terminally ill man that is told by his best friend. Also in 1971, Rajesh starred in Shakti Samanta’s romantic drama “Amar Prem” with Sharmila Tagore and Sujit Kumar.

Although he had numerous roles in the 70’s, Khanna’s most successful films were “Bawarchi” (1972) and “Namak Haraam” (1973). Following different complications with his health through cancer, Khanna died on the 18th July 2012 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
