Paul attended White Station High School and Christian Brothers High School. Later, he graduated with a degree in Politics Science from the University of Tennessee. Finebaum began his career as a reporter and columnist for the Birmingham Post-Herald, when he moved to Birmingham in 1980. He was mostly analyzing stories of famous sportsmen, and these kinds of articles got Finebaum not only awards but also recognition. His most famous stories include that of Buck Johnson’s recruitment, and of the University of Alabama football player Antonio Langham being signed before leaving college.

The same year Paul began broadcasting on the radio, so he started his career not only as a reporter but also as a commentator on the Mark and Brian Radio Show. A few years later, Finebaum became the host of his own radio show, which quickly became one of the highest rated sport-talk program in Birmingham.

Despite moving the show to various radio stations, it increased in popularity. The show “The Paul Finebaum Radio Network” was launched in 2001 and only three years later it became one of the top 12 sports radio programs in the whole US. Probably the most listened-to interview in history was taken by Finebaum in 2011 – he interviewed Harvey Updyke, who was charged for the poisoning of the well-known trees on Toomer’s Corner at Auburn University.

After the expiration of his contract, Paul‘s talk show was temporarily moved to WJOX in 2013. Soon he signed with ESPN and agreed to host a daily talk show so as to broadcast on its new SEC Network beginning.

Finebaum is also an author of several books. His most famous “I Hate…” series books include “I Hate Michigan: 303 Reasons Why You Should, Too” and others. More, he published “The Worst of Paul Finebaum” in 1994 and “Finebaum Said” in 2011. Undoubtedly, all publications helped him to accumulate part of his wealth.

More, Paul works in television, as he was a sports director for WIAT-TV (1998-2002), sports analyst for WBRC Fox 6, and has co-hosted other shows. He was also the voice of the documentary “Roll Tide/War Eagle” which came out in 2011.
