His mother was fashion model in her day, and was a Miss Sri Lanka; she had a great influence on Nigel’s career beginnings.

Nigel attended Bryanston School where he took A-levels in subjects such as biology, physics and chemistry. After matriculation he wanted to study medicine, however, his mother signed him onto the television program “The Clothes Show”, and he reached finals, which was enough to launch his career in modeling.

For the next ten years he graced the runways of Paris, Milan, London and New York City, but his presence started to wain as he was no longer sought, due to his staggering height of 6’4”. Nevertheless, he has stayed in fashion to this day, but as a photographer and judge.

He opened his own studio, called Studio NB, and since then has worked on editorials for such magazines as GQ, Seventeen, Lucky, Cover, Interview, and on advertising campaigns for Nicole Miller, Nine West, Jordache and many others, which have helped him increase his net worth.

In 2004 he was appointed as judge and photographer for Tyra Banks’ reality show “America’s Next Top Mode”, and for the next eight years held his position. In 2013 he was named as the host of the show “The Face”, and is currently hosting “Fashion News Live (Vintage)” (2016-17).

Furthermore, Nigel also tried himself as a director, and his debut was rather successful, as the film “A Sealed Fate” (2009), received positive critiques, which encouraged him to continue with his work, and so far has directed documentaries “Haiti: Hunger and Hope” (2009), “Generation Free of HIV” (2009), and “Dreams Are Not Forgotten” (2012). Most recently he has produced the TV series, entitled “Top Photographer” (2016).

Back in 2012, he joined forces with singer and model Taylor Swift, to create a photobook called “8 Hours”, and in 2013 he shot several models, including Liliane Ferrarezi, among others to create “Bedtime Stories”, photoshoot, which was featured in the magazine Numero Russia, in September that year.
