Then he commenced his coaching career, and since 2000 he has been serving as the manager of the Los Angeles Angels.

Mike went to Springfield High School, and was then selected by the Dodgers as the 19th pick in the 1976 MLB amateur draft. He signed with them immediately, and spent four seasons in the minors leagues building a name for himself and improving his game. He also attended Penn State University, from which he obtained a degree in computer science. In 1980 he debuted for the Dodgers and stayed with the team until 1992, winning two World Series in 1981 and then in 1988. Thanks to his great performances, Mike was two times selected for the All-Star games, in 1989 and 1990, all his efforts contributing to his rising net worth.

After his contract with the Dodgers expired in 1992, he signed with the San Diego Padres for the 1993 season, however, he suffered a torn rotator cuff before the season started, and so missed the whole season. The following year he became a part of the Texas Rangers, but again didn’t appear in a single game, as the injury from the previous season continued to trouble him, and as a result he retired. Mike finished his career with .259 batting average, 68 home runs, and 446 runs batted in.

After retirement he returned to the Dodgers, holding several coaching positions until 2000, when he became the manager of the Los Angeles Angels. Since then he has served in the position, which has only further increased his wealth. His long stint as the Los Angeles Angels manager makes him the second longest-tenured coach/manager in the MLB, NFL, NHL, and NBA – Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs has served four years longer than Scioscia as the manager of a franchise.

To speak of his accomplishments as coach, Mike won the World Series in 2002 with the Angels, while in 2002 and 2009 he was named AL Manager of the Year. He managed the Angels in 2791 games, and so far has won 1507, and lost 1284.

Mike appeared in “The Simpsons”, first in 1992 in the episode “Homer at the Bat”, and then in 2010 in the episode “Money Bart”. These also added somewhat to his wealth.

Regarding his personal life, Mike has been married to Anne Mellqueham since 1985. The two met in 1980 while Mike was signing autographs, and the two hit it off immediately, and five years later they were married. The couple has two children, including son Matthew who is also a baseball player.
