MC Ride started his professional music career when he co-founded a hip hop group called Fyre, alongside his brother Swank Daddy and rapper Young G; he initially performed under the stage name Mxlplx. In February 2012, Death Grips signed a record contract with Epic Records. Their debut studio album “The Money Store” came out two months later to widespread critical acclaim, debuting at No. 130 on the Billboard 200 chart, and also peaking at No. 14 on the Top Rap Albums chart. By the end of the year, they’d launched their second studio album, “No Love Deep Web”, which cover gained enormous attention for its controversial content with Hill’s erect penis with the title written across it; however, the album was praised for its complexity by critics.

In November 2013, they made available their third studio album – “Government Plates” – with the lead single “Birds”, which received generally positive reviews. The first disc “Niggas On The Moon” out came in June 2014, after which they announced their disbandment, but the group eventually re-emerged in January 2015, and issued the second disc, “Jenny Death”, in March that year. The album debut at No. 72 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 8 on the Top Rap Albums chart.
Continued Success
In January 2015, Death Grips distributed a free instrumental album entitled “Fashion Week”, which reached No. 72 on the Billboard 200 chart. It was followed by their second EP entitled “Interview 2016”, in March 2016. Two months later their fifth studio album “Bottomless Pit” was launched; it was critically acclaimed and named one of the best albums of the year. They continued to work on their third EP, “Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber Megamix)”, which was put out in May 2017, featuring a single 22-minute mix of eight songs. The group’s sixth studio album, entitled “Year Of The Snitch”, out came in June of the following year, and spawned such singles as “Flies”, “Streaky”, and “Hahaha”.
The album peaked at No. 97 on the Billboard 200 and No. 10 on the Top Alternative Albums. Their most recent project came in June 2019, when they released their fourth EP entitled “Gmail And The Restraining Orders”.
