Liam Timothy Costner is an American celebrity, known to the world as the son of the two-time Oscar Award recipient actor Kevin Costner, born on 15 November 1996 under the Scorpio zodiac sign in the USA, the son of Kevin and his ex-girlfriend Bridget Rooney. Liam is the only child of his parents, while on his father’s side, he has six half-siblings – Annie, Lily, Joe, Wyatt Cayden, Logan Hayes and Avery Grace Costner, from his other relationships.

His parents dated for a brief time in the mid-‘90s, following his father’s divorce from his first wife Cindy Silva. At first, Costner thought that Liam’s father was someone else, as his and Bridget’s romance wasn’t a lasting one, but after a fraternity test, it was established that Costner is indeed Liam’s father.

Born Kevin Michael Costner on 18 January 1955, in Lynwood, California USA, he’s the son of William Costner, who later found employment at Southern California Edison as a utility executive, and his wife Sharon Rae, who was a welfare worker.

The youngest child of his parents, he has an older brother, while the second-born child died at birth.

Of German, English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh ancestry, Kevin was raised as a Baptist, and sang in the First Baptist Choir while in school. He also took piano lessons, and played football in high school. His father’s job forced them to move around often, and he ultimately graduated from Villa Park High School, then enrolled at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), from which he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in marketing and finance.


During his time at CSUF, Kevin became interested in acting and began taking lessons, and after meeting noted Welsh actor Richard Burton on a ‘plane by chance, he was encouraged by the prominent actor to start pursuing his own career.

He worked at a marketing agency as an executive, while attending acting lessons five times a week. He left his post at the agency after 30 days, and held several odd jobs, such as working on fishing boats, as a truck driver, and others to support himself and his wife at the time, before his acting career took off.

Kevin made his acting debut in 1981 as John Logan in the romantic comedy film “Malibu Hot Summer”, while in 1983 he secured his first starring role, in the drama film “Stacy’s Knights”.  The same year, he featured in the sci-fi drama series “Testament”, with Jane Alexander, William Devane and Rossie Harris in the lead roles, before two years later, starring in Lawrence Kasdan’s Academy Award-nominated film “Silverado”, alongside Kevin Kline and Scott Glenn.


He continued his career rather successfully, first as the star of Brian De Palma’s thriller crime-drama film “The Untouchables” (1987), for which co-star Sean Connery won an Oscar, and in 1989 starred in the Academy Award-nominated fantasy family-drama film “Field of Dreams”, next to James Earl Jones, and Ray Liotta. The following year, Kevin starred in the film he also directed, “Dances with Wolves”, which won him his two Academy Awards, for Best Picture and Best Director.

Next, in 1994 he was Wyatt Earp in the film of the same name, and in 1995 he was the main star of the Academy Award-nominated sci-fi action-adventure film “Waterworld”, and then two years later starred in another titular role, this time as “The Postman”.

In 2001, he teamed up with Kurt Russell and Courtney Cox in the action comedy-crime film “3000 Miles to Graceland”, then from the mid- 2000s until the 2010s, he was primarily focused on a music career, but still featured in several prominent roles, including as Denny Davies in the film “The Upside of Anger”, then as Ben Randall in the film “The Guardian” (2006), and in “Swing Vote” in 2008.


Although he enjoyed his best career years in the ‘90s, Kevin is still a respected actor, and his latest roles have seen a resurgence in his acting career. In 2016, he played Jonathan Kent in the film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, and in the same year he was Al Harrison in the film “Hidden Figures”. In 2019, starred as Frank Hamer in the biopic “The Highwaymen”, co-starring Woody Harrelson and Kathy Bates, moreover since 2018, he’s been John Dutton in the TV series “Yellowstone”, so far appearing in all 39 episodes.
