Who is Annie Costner?

American actress, film producer and director Annie Costner, was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 15 April 1984 thus making her zodiac sign Aries. She’s appeared in only five movies and no TV series, while she’s perhaps still best known for her playing of Ponytail in the critically acclaimed 1997 action adventure movie “The Postman”, directed by her father Kevin Costner, who also starred in it alongside Will Patton and Larenz Tate. Set in post-apocalyptic America, the movie follows the life of a postman, and it won seven of its 14 award nominations.

Annie’s also popular for being a daughter of famous American actor, movie producer, director and musician Kevin Michael Costner.

Education and early life

Annie, her sister Lily and brother Joe were raised in Los Angeles by their father and mother Cindy Silva, who was an actress and human rights activist; Kevin and Cindy divorced in 1994 following 16 years of marriage, and Kevin went on to date Bridget Rooney, who gave birth to Annie’s half-brother Liam Timothy in 1996. He married his second wife, American designer and model Christine Baumgartner on 25 September 2004, and they have three children together.

Annie grew up being interested in both music and acting, and her father helped her become cast in her first movie in 1990, when she played Christine in the critically acclaimed adventure western drama “Dances with Wolves”, directed by her father, who also starred in it alongside Mary McDonnell and Graham Greene. It follows Lieutenant Jon Dunbar who befriended wolves and Native Americans at a remote western outpost during the Civil War – the movie won 58 of its 96 award nominations, including seven Oscar wins for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Cinematography, amongst others.

Annie studied at a local high school, from which she matriculated in 2002; she had stopped acting five years earlier, so that she could focus on her studies. She continued her education at Brown University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006.

In 1995, Annie played Atoll Girl in the hit action science fiction adventure “Waterworld”, directed by Kevin Reynolds, and which starred her father, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Dennis Hopper. Set in post-apocalyptic Earth which is nearly entirely flooded, the movie follows a mutated mariner, a woman and a girl as they’re searching for land; it won six of its 16 award nominations, including an Oscar nomination for Best Sound.

The year 1995 saw Annie appear in the popular family comedy drama “The Baby-Sitters Club”, which Melanie Mayron directed, and which starred Rachael Leigh Cook, Bre Blair and Schuyler Fisk. It follows seven teenage girls who’ve launched a daycare camp, and the film won two of its three award nominations.

Annie retired from acting aged 13, following her role in “The Postman”, but returned in 2010, when cast to play Melody in the short action film “Lazy Teenage Superheroes”; it follows four friends with superpowers, who prefer playing video games over saving the world.

Directing and producing credits

Annie has five producing and a single directing credit.

She produced and directed the 2016 short documentary film “The Discarded: A Tale of Two Riots”, which follows the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as well as the locals who believe that environmental and social conditions in the city are unlikely to improve.

Annie went on to produce the 2017 short documentary movie “ESPN 30 for 30: Bump, Spike”, and then the 2020 short film “El Cartel Cubano”, which follows the unique form of Cuban film posters, and the artists who are trying to preserve their technique.

Annie’s the producer of the upcoming documentary series’ “Mother” and “Mother Wild”, both of which began shooting in 2018.

Although Annie prefers to keep the details of her love life to herself, it’s still widely known that she’s today a married woman. She wed American doctor Daniel Arturo Cox on 16 July 2016, in a large ceremony attended by more than 300 of their friends and family members; Daniel’s today working in California as a doctor, but prefers to stay away from media, thus not a lot about him is known.

It’s believed that the two were together for three years prior to exchanging vows, while it’s also believed that Annie was in a long-term relationship with an actor prior to meeting Daniel; the actor’s name hasn’t been disclosed.

Annie and Daniel have two children together: four year-old son Vincent, and twoyear-old daughter Vida.

Annie enjoys being physically active, and besides having multiple training sessions at the gym every week, also occasionally plays tennis and badminton with her friends.
