Katya was raised in Minneapolis alongside her two sisters Gabrielle and Tanaya, by their parents Tawna Lynn Nelson, who is a personal trainer, and Derick Anthony Henry, who worked as a bodyguard to some well-known celebrities; the family often moved around Minnesota and other states because of his job.
Katya attended Desert Mountain High School, in Scottsdale, Arizona, and upon matriculating in 2012, she didn’t enroll at college.

There were various rumors about Katya’s love life; its widely known that back in 2015 she was dating Austin Mahone, an American singer-songwriter, and they traveled together to Tampa, Florida in summer 2016, but when they came back, there were rumors that they’d some problems in the relationship. In February 2017, Austin confirmed that they’d broken-up.
