Emilija Baranac is a Canadian TV and film actress and model, who’s probably best known for her appearance in the film series “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and the TV series “Riverdale.”

Emilija Baranac was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, under the Leo zodiac sign on 4 August 1994, which makes her 29 years old as of early 2024. She was born to Serbian parents – her mother is the photographer and , but Emilija hasn’t divulged the name of her father, who reportedly owned a moving company.

Emilija began showing an interest in acting when she was around nine years old and began acting professionally when she was 15 years old. Emilija has studied psychology at an undisclosed University.

Baranac had previously signed a contract with the Vancouver-based talent agency, Play Management and the Los Angeles-based Alchemy Entertainment. She modeled for a few local brands before she began her acting career.

Film Appearances

Emilija began her acting career appearing in the 2010 short movies “Gratuitous,” “Wash Your Hands”, and “Inversion/Invasion”. In 2013, she landed the starring role of Sophie in the Peter DeLuise-directed TV movie, “Aliens in the House,” which also starred Ashley Boettcher, Jeremy Shada, and Charlie DePew. Her next appearances were in the TV films “Love You to Death” and “Breed” both in 2015, and “Deadly Sorority” in 2017. In the year that followed, Emilija was cast for one of her most important film roles, as Genevieve aka Gen in the romantic comedy “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” In the film, Lara Jean (played by Lana Condor) writes five secret and soul-baring letters to each of the boys she has a crush on without the intention of ever sending them – however, the letters are leaked, wreaking havoc on the teenager’s love life. The film also starred the likes of Noah Centineo, Anna Cathcart, Israel Broussard and Janel Parrish.

In 2020, Emilija reprised her role of Gen in the second installment of “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”, entitled “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You.” 2021 saw her appear in “To All the Boys: Always and Forever.”

TV Appearances

In 2015, Emilija made her TV debut as Crystal Thorrson in an episode of the acclaimed The WB TV drama “Supernatural.” Her next appearance was in four episodes of the Freeform mystery drama, “Beyond” (2017), which follows the story of Holden Matthews who wakes up from a 12-year coma with supernatural powers that puts him in the middle of a conspiracy. As a result, he embarks on a mission to find out what happened to him in the past 12 years as he tries to survive in a world that has transformed significantly. The series starred Burkely Duffield, Jonathan Whitesell, Jordan Calloway, and Dilan Gwyn. From 2017 to 2021, Emilija landed one of her most important TV roles (as Midge Klump) in the second season of the Netflix drama “Riverdale,” which is based on Archie Comics’ characters. She portrayed Moose Mason’s (Cody Kearsley) girlfriend, who’s unfortunately murdered by the masked killer, Black Hood aka Hal Cooper (portrayed by Lochlyn Munro) at the end of the episode, “Chapter Thirty-One: A Night to Remember.”

From 2018 to 2021, Emilija portrayed Heidi in three episodes of The CW/CBS supernatural series, “Charmed”, concurrently appearing in a 2019 episode of the Netflix supernatural horror, “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” which is an adaptation of “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” In 2022, Emilija landed another key role as Zoe Christensen in the CBS Gem TV comedy series “Fake,” which also starred Jennifer Tong, Richard Harmon, and Myra Lowe. The series is about teenage best friends Becca and Zoe who build a very successful fake ID business, and end up venturing too deeply into the world of crime.

In 2022, Emilija was cast as Katherine in five episodes of the TV horror thriller series “The Midnight Club” which has so far aired for one season on Netflix.

In 2018, Emilija provided the soundtracks, “Stay Here Instead,” “In,” and “A Night We’ll Never Forget” in an episode of the TV series “Riverdale.” She also worked in the costume department of the short movie “Dead End.”
