Despite being born in Columbus, Jarvis was raised in Lumpkin and Richland, Georgia, and educated at Carver High School, where he was a notable football player on the team in his formative years. This resulted in Jones receiving praise and being rated as a four-star recruit, among achieving many other rewards. Later on, he enrolled into the University of Southern Carolina, and during that period of time played for the USC Trojans football team. He added significantly to the team’s success, and his skills were acknowledged. Jarvis’ career was temporarily stopped when he suffered a neck injury. Having returned to form, Jones started playing again but eventually decided to switch to another team in 2010, and ended up playing for the University of Georgia. He went on to start every game in the 2011 season and his career was progressing, gaining more recognition amongst fans and experts. He was eventually named to the first teams of ESPN and the American Football Association among others. In the following season he again achieved notable results, which resulted in Jarvis being named AFCA First Team All-American, and the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

In the 2013 NFL Draft, Jones was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers, however, in his first season he was used as a backup, and rarely got a chance to get on the field. He would eventually start playing in September of the same year and played impressively, and as a result, Jarvis’ went on to replace LaMarr Woodley as starting left outside linebacker, finishing off the season with good results. In the following period, Jones’ playing was up to scratch but he suffered another injury during a game with Carolina Panthers and was unable to play for a while. Having recovered, he started off with three tackles and a solo tackle and his team won. However, at that point, his career was stuck in one place and he wasn’t able to move forward as his results were slowly decreasing. In the next season, Jones’ continued playing for the Steelers, but his performance was markedly down and disappointing, thus he was declined when it came to signing another contract. He went on to become a free agent after the 2016 season, and Jarvis eventually ended up signing a contract with the Arizona Cardinals in March 2017 as the outside linebacker.

Aside from football, Jarvis appeared in a 2015 movie called ‘’No Filter the Film’’.

In his personal life, Jones is reputed to be humble and a faith-oriented man. He has a daughter named Yodi, but there are no details about the mother.
